Author:Lemmy Kilmister & Janiss Garza
Book:White Line Fever: The Autobiography
Record Company:Citadel Press
Writer: Mark Carras

Wow, I'm doing a book review. I haven't done one of these since high school a decade and a half ago. I hope I get a good grade. It would be the first time ever! I have to say that this was a way more enjoyable book than the ones I read in high school. Janiss Garza did an amazing job making sure that Lemmy's crass sense of humor was not only kept intact, but overflowing throughout. Even if you've never heard of Motorhead (for shame), this thing would be a riot to read. If you are a Motorhead fan you also get a detailed history of one of the greatest musicians to ever grace us with his talent. Finish with this book and you will be all ready for Lemmy trivia. Did you know that Lemmy was a roadie once? It also goes into some good detail as to why Philthy is no longer in the band. That's something that even Metal Sludge couldn't get out of the man. I was really surprised at how little he held back. Lemmy is normally a pretty private person that doesn't talk about himself too much. His private business has always been just that...private. Forget Motley Crue's "The Dirt", this thing is way better and probably more honest.

The greatest thing about this book is getting to know the man behind the music. There are things in this book that you would never think would be true about Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister. For one, did you know that he had a gay roommate once? This was way before Rob Halford ever came out of the closet and made it ok for a metalhead to be gay. This will give you a better understanding as to how songs like "Killed By Death" came to be. For the record, if you ever find yourself with the honor of meeting the man, don't make "Ace Of Spades" the first song you reference or even mention. While it may be a great song, he will be much more open if you mention anything off the past three or four Motorhead albums.

This is a book of a man that has lived harder than John Wayne ever dreamed of. A doctor once told him that his blood would kill anyone else. He was also told at the same time that the blood of a healthy person would kill him as well. Now that's more partying than most humans could endure, but to this legend it's just day to day life.

With this damn thing called the internet, the daily newspaper, and metal zines coming at you faster than dicks being tossed in the face of a $2 whore at a gang bang, you might find that you don't read as many book as you used to. So I have to say that if you read one book cover to cover (before books are fazed out) it should be this one.
