American style power metal… From Norway. Hooray logic! Yup. Well, basically, this is a foreign band with a rather Americanized sound. It’s actually pretty good. Suffering from a bit of production trouble, though. I blame Bush for that, even though that really has nothing to do with anything. Oh well, can’t stop me from blaming people.

Yup. Well… We’ve got some really good quality power metal here. With lots of entertaining and confusing moments, this CD is a good muse. There’s one part where it turns into a random Island jam… And another moment where I’m pretty sure they rip off the Harry Potter music. I dunno. That’s what it sounds like to me…

The breakdown:

The guitar work is full of fun rhythms and nice variations to keep it interesting. The ton of crazy shit that keeps going on to keep it in the good area. There’s a rather weak tone, but the American feel gives it something that I really enjoy hearing. It really keeps a smile on my face the whole time… But that might have had something to do with the fat person who ran into their house as I walked by because I was rocking out too hard. That was funny.

The bass didn’t do anything to peak my interest. Kind accentuated the chords, but aside from that, there’s not really anything that really sticks out. I guess that’s ok since the guitar work keeps the energy going. I guess if you’re really into bass, you’d be disappointed.

The drums are actually really fun. I walk around my neighborhood as I listen to these CD’s and I must say that the drums really kept me moving. Most drums don’t have the energy to keep me movin. The downfall is that there is kind of a repetitive feel.

The vocals are the downfall of the CD. It’s kind of weird to explain how it is. It’s kind of like… One of those singers that doesn’t really mix it up enough to keep you entertained. He has some really accent filled parts and he’s kind of throaty. He works ok with the music… But he doesn’t seem to have that great of a range.

The production isn’t very good. There’s a very murky feel in the music and it’s not completely pleasant.

My thoughts: I like this CD. A lot. It might have had something to do with the lyrics which really struck a chord with me. That’s not the reason I like it though. Musically it’s a very good CD. It’s really entertaining and a good mix of stuff to keep me amused. Nothing exceptional, but still good.

Closure: Meh. If you’re bored, check these guys out. There’s nothing that’s going to change the world, but I’d still see these guys in concert. Nothing really bad, but some good things. I’ll probably listen to this again sometime.
