I have been a huge fan of Motörhead for a long time. My top three favorite bands in music history have been Overkill, Motörhead, and Nevermore for a very long time. This shows how far behind I am in my reviews, eh? Two of those band's had cd's waiting in my stacks of promos for way longer then they should have. So this thing came out in October, so many of you might already have it. The thing kicks off with "Doctor rock" from Orgasmatron in '86.Then there is "Stay Clean" from the album Overkill that was released in '79. The third track is "Shoot You In The Back" from the legendary album Ace Of Spades. Now I could go on and on listing every single song and what album it originally came from, but for that info I suggest you go to www.bnrmetal.com and take a look for yourself. That site does the best job of any when looking up that kind of info. I list the first three to make a point that Lemmy and company did a great job at digging up some rare tracks. Sure you have the mandatory songs like "Ace Of Spades", Killed By Death, and "Iron Fist" on here as well, but this collection seems more about digging up the older and less often included songs. Even as much o a fan of the band as I am, there are songs on here that are new to me.

The recording quality is just about perfect for a Motörhead release. Could you imagine if you bought a Motörhead live cd and it sounded all crisp and clean? That would be out right sacrilege! So this thing is nice and ugly, but you can still hear everything beautifully. Many live cd's are ruined because the band goes off with their on stage banter and suck at it. Lemmy is short, sweet, and funny as hell. There are some comments by I think Phil that are not mic'ed well at all, but that is my only complaint.Like any live cd, it makes you wish you could see the dvd, but for an audio only release this is as good as it gets.

Did this Rock My Monkey? Well, that isn't a fair question since I am a total fanboy, but yes. It serves as a reminder that I need to start buying up all the older Motörhead releases. So a note to my wife: Valentines Day is coming up quick and I need more Motörhead! If you are new to the band smack yourself in the head and get this right away. Get would make just as good of an introduction as any other collection currently in print. For the hardcore Motörhead fan this is a must as well. If you are no a fan of Motörhead I want to personally dedicate track 12 from the first disc to you.
