So I have said it a million times and I will say it again. I love a well written pop rock tune. That being said, Treaty Of Paris is pretty by the numbers stuff. There is nothing special about them at all. There is nothing even close to original here at all. All that being said, I did find my brain turning off so I enjoyed it at times. It is mindless pop drival and they have the formula down pat. Unlike many of the pop punk type band's out today, at least they don't have those god fucking awful whiny emo vocals. I hate those band's and they all need to just die. Treaty Of Paris is at least not annoying. Standard status quo sure, but not bad necessarily. There are three main categories of music for me. There is the type of music that leaves you running to the stereo to crank it past ten, there is the type that just sits in the background almost unnoticed, and there is the type of music that leaves you running full speed to the stereo to change the channel. Treaty Of Paris is the second one. While not being painful to listen to at all, it isn't anything to get excited about either. Now the production on here is great and I am sure if someone put a ton of money into promotion, they got a lucky movie soundtrack slot, or kissed ass on a really great tour position, they could be hit makers. It's like a second rate Foo Fighters. Get the band on Guitar Hero game and they could become huge. So is the potential here? Yes. The problem is that there are a million other band's with the exact same sound. This has the originality of a buddy cop movie. Well done? Sure. Buddy cop movies can have a massive budget, all star cast, multi-million dollar promotion budget, and even be the biggest movie of the weekend. It's doesn't mean they are important. This is a well done cd that is about as important as that tramp you picked up last night and didn't even give cab fare to in the morning. Did this Rock My Monkey? Yes. Will I ever listen to it again? Probably not. There are much better things out there. I want to make it clear that this band does not suck. They just have nothing new to offer the listener. They are about as groundbreaking as an autumn leaf falling to the ground. What would I do to save this? Not sure. What they do, they do well. In fact, maybe that is the problem. Could this be a case of over produced rock? Maybe this is too perfect? Honestly I just do not care enough to put much thought in it and that is the band's biggest problem. There is no reason for you to care. ![]()
