So Waldemar Sorychta gets a ton of well deserved praise for his work with Lacuna Coil. He probably gets a ton of money for his work with them as well. In fact I am willing to bet that he gets more money from his work as a producer of Lacuna Coil than he gets from all his work as a guitarist for Grip Inc, Voodoocult, and Despair combined. Was it because his work as a guitarist isn't as great? Hell no! In fact I loved his work with Grip Inc and I think he should have been given more credit for that. So I am sure he feels like he would like to get a little rockstar worship after watching what his production for Lacuna Coil give them such a high profile status. Let's be honest, that is what this is all about. It's the producer behind Lacuna Coil wanting to get some praise from the stage instead of being "behind the scenes" studio magician. Let me make it clear that my opinion of him as a producer is very high and the guy is a magician. Listen to his work with Tiamat, Samael, Moonspell, Therion, and a few others as well. The guy is one talented mother fucker! So he deserves every bit of praise from every direction he wants it. However, the question here is if he adds anything to the sound that you can't hear from a million of the other female fronted pseudo-goth metal bands. The answer sadly is no.

Now don't get me wrong, I think this is good. Waldemar can put out a top notch production in his goddamn sleep and this is no different. This is slick as hell, the song writing is decent, and everything about this cd is strategically done. The problem is that it doesn't have the magic that Lacuna Coil did when he produced Unleashed Memories and Comalies. It is still better than the overly homogenized Karmacode, but this does not add anything to the mix. I have listened to this entire cd so many times that I have lost count and I can't recall anything from even one song. Nothing sticks with me at all about it. In fact, I am listening to it now and I can't remember anything from the song that just finished seconds ago. Is it enjoyable to listen to? Very much so, but it is about as forgettable as a leaf in the front yard.

Will I listen to this one again? Probably. I do enjoy it. If you can't get enough of the female fronted goth bands, than by all means click that cd cover and buy this thing. I have heard many that are less enjoyable than this one is. My only problem with it is that it is so damn forgettable. If this was a new band I would say that it is an amazing debut, but with Waldemar Sorychta being a seasoned veteran of a couple decades I hold it to a higher standard. Maybe with the second release they can work on making the songs stick with the listener more and this band can reach their full potential. This did Rock My Monkey, but still fell short of my expectations. I still have hopes for this band though and hope the second release brings Waldemar Sorychta (and the entire band) everything he deserves.
