Bang... You're Dead is the debut album from new, Wisconsin-based band Bone Shaker. The band consists of guitarist/vocalist David Gonzales, bassist Camille Gonzales and drummer Brian DeHarde. Musically, Bone Shaker is a rather solid band. Nothing special, but definitely solid since everyone involved can play their instruments quite well. On top of that, the disc's production makes the instrumental performances sound great, but unfortunately not good enough to mask the atrocious vocals, or the overwhelming lyrical stupidity. In fact, stupidity is the word that just may sum up Bang... You're Dead, and Bone Shaker. First, how is it that someone who knows what he's doing as a guitarist and music writer can't understand that his vocals sound like a horrible imitation of Sebastian Bach? Then, how can he not see that his lyrics look as if they were written by some fifth-wave, reject hair band from the late 1980's? Are the lyrics really that bad? You tell me: "We rip through the night, that's how we rock. Stay away from the light, that's how we rock." These brilliant lines come from the album's first track, "We Rock," and serve as an indication of what's in store for the painful duration. Can it really be that painful? Once again, you tell me once you see these ingenious song titles: "Dr? Strange," "Raising Hell," "Hell Razor." Above all else, why is it that two other musicians who have some potential let this bullshit slide? With all of that out of the way, who will like Bang... You're Dead or Bone Shaker? Anyone who desires to seek out long lost albums by previously mentioned fifth-wave, reject hair bands that have been collecting dust on record company's shelves for about twenty years.
