Dew Scented is a german thrash band that has been around for quite awhile but has never really seemed to break out onto the scene. I don't recall ever hearing any press on them, which is odd considering the quality of their releases.

This new disc is called "Impact" and it's sure to please fans of bands like "The Haunted" or "Carnal Forge". There are quick thrashy riffs and melodic leads/solos all over this disc. It's definitely heavy and intense, in fact it never really slows down. Although that can sort of work against the band, because one of my only complaints is that sometimes the songs just sound way too similar. The band does mix some killer grooves into the songs, but a little more variation would be a welcome addition. Overall, the musicianship is really tight, and the drumming is quite good when they really lock into a kickass rhythm. As you would expect, the vocals are a wholly shouted affair. The singer has a pretty menacing style of yelling, yet he's able to enunciate and doesn't fall into the trap of death metal growling to get his point across. Again, I'm reminded a little bit of "The Haunted" style.

If you're interested in some no bullshit, intense, thrashy style metal then I'd recommend you check these guys out. I won't recommend specific songs because the disc is pretty solid the whole way through. They have an MP3 of the first track titled "Acts of Rage" up on their website. It'd be great if these guys could make it to the states and do a tour, hopefully this album will be a breakthrough for them.
