| Greg | So what are the immeddiate tour plans for Starwood? |
| Marten | There is a lot of things in the works, I would love to tell you everything but you know how it is in this biz, 8 out of 10 things never happens |
| Marten | we are starting rehershing new songs for a new album next week |
| tbhride | so marten - for those of us unfamiliar with starwood, what kind of music do you play? |
| Marten | and we are doing a video |
| Marten | I would describe Starwood as in your face, straight forward rock.. |
| Marten | very 70's but in a more modern production of coursse |
| tbhride | sounds interesting - do you have any audio samples on your website? |
| Greg | In the press releases it was somewhat "hidden" that Lizzy Borden was singing for the band any idea why? |
| Marten | The new songs sounds awesome, very strong songs |
| Mark | any ETA on the next Starwood release? |
| Marten | I dont think it was a secret as such, we would tell if anybody asked, all of us obviously has extensive records of privious bands |
| Marten | also, we wanted people to judge us based on what they have heard and not try to sell it as a LB project |
| Greg | So was it you wanted to start fresh without any expectations from anyone? |
| Marten | Thank you Greg.. Exctally! |
| Marten | some people were giving us the, "you are selling out" scenerio |
| Greg | Well I believe you succeeded it dosen't sound like a LB cd at all |
| Mark | So is the LB band done with now or will that continue at a latte date? |
| Marten | but thats not the case at all, we even do an LB song in the set |
| Marten | Belive it or not, alot of the people picking up the disc are 18-30 year old chicks.. who never even heard of LB |
| Greg | I believe it, it has that arena rock sound to it |
| Marten | AND I can report here that it will be a LB album at some point as well |
| Bruce | So why the change, when the LB almost seemed to make a great comeback? |
| Mark | Young little things being into the band is never a bad thing. |
| Marten | first another SW album then a LB CD the way it looks |
| Greg | Not Journey like but with a little harder edge |
| Marten | Love Youngs girs!! |

| Marten | Why the name change.. well.. |

| Marten | we actually started writing and recording for a LB CD |
| Mark | 18-30 is just above Lolita stage. :D |
| Marten | and the direction was sooooooo Different from LB |
| Mark | So both bands are done in tandum. Very cool! |
| Marten | Well see what ends up happening really, but thats the plan right now.. |

| Greg | So how hard is it to keep the bands seperate? |
| Bruce | 2 for 1 |
| Marten | Metalblade is actually shopping the CD to Major Lables right now |
| Greg | whats right for LB and whats right for SW? |
| Marten | Metal Blade are saying, this is soo good and you deserve to be on a major |
| Marten | So well see.. |
| Marten | Its not really that hard to keep SW and LB seperate |
| tbhride | MetalBlade has always been good with letting their artists move on when the time is right |
| StarFAN | If it ain't broke... |
| Marten | LB will still be on MB but hey if we can get picked up by a label like RCA or Warner for SW.. |

| Marten | I love doing both, the music is soo different and we are all having a great time with it so.. |
| StarFAN | So what can we expect from the next Starwood album? |
| tbhride | hey where did StarFAN go? |

| Marten | its a bit early to tell what will end up on the new CD but it will heavy guitars with cool vocals for sure |

| Marten | we have a ton of songs, its just a matter of starting pre production and see what works |

| Marten | Good question.. There will be some heavy stuff on there but also some radio friendly songs |
| Marten | I love the cooper stuff, sweet, bands like that |

| StarFAN | So a wider range of heavy/melodic |
| Marten | but with a modern production and sound to it.. |

| Marten | I imagine you guys play and you know that what you go into the studio with does not always turn out the way you envisioned it.. |

| Mark | When you get it done and online maybe Abrasive Rock can work up some kind of way to hype it up |
| tbhride | So any interesting stories from working with George Lynch? |
| Marten | that be great, Abrasive have been great.. |
| Greg | So the 1st Starwood cd came out less than a year ago and your already startin a second why so soon did the 1st not do as well as hoped? |
| Bruce | So with all the constant work, do you see any chance of travelling to towns as eithier of all bands? leg......star............? |
| StarFAN | Do you think you will ever work with lynch again |
| Marten | let me start with tbhride question |
| Marten | There is a lot of stories with lynch, not even sure where to start with that one.. |
| Mark | Hmmm? There might have to be a follow up interview. \m/ |
| Marten | Bruce question.. I love to do some double headers, I did some shows on the west coast where SW and Lynch played |

| Marten | I was on stage for like 3 1/2 hours |

| Marten | I am sure I will do somehting with G again, he has a tour starting in June |

| Marten | There is no dates released yet but keep checking the website |

| Marten | George and I get along great. He has been nothing then cool to me.. |
| Marten | The debut CD is being re-released this summer |
| Marten | It has bonus material on it and new cover art by German Artist Christian Klute. |
| tbhride | so I am a gearhead - what type of guitar/amp rig do you use, and does it change between borden and starwood? |
| Marten | And the CD will be remastered |
| Marten | My amp set up is pretty much the same with all the bands, I do play different basses |
| Marten | I use Ampeg gear, the set up is a bit long to go into here but send me a seperate mail or check out my site |
| tbhride | awesome - what is you favorite brand of bass? |
| Marten | I have worked with ESP Basses for what seams like a millon years now |
| Marten | I stand by them 110@ |
| Marten | 110.00% |
| Marten | I use more of rock sound with Starwood |
| StarFAN | So for those that have not heard Legacy, how does it differ from your other bands? |
| Marten | with a guy like Lynch I play 8 Strings basses alot |
| Marten | its all about getting the big wall since its only one guitar |
| Bruce | legacy is the way rock and roll shoiuld be |
| Bruce | sorry i had to say that |
| Marten | Thanks Bruce, Legacy has always been a bit different for me.. I'll tell you why |
| tbhride | so you play the 8 string with the basic 4 doubled up? |
| Marten | Because as much as I love playing dokken, lynch mob songs etc. The legacy songs feel special to me since they are songs I wrote in my bedroom |
| Marten | Yes Tbhride.. |
| Bruce | marten, my favorite song is autom rising |
| Mark | So Legacy is more of your writting as the other bands are other main writers. |
| Bruce | has feel |
| Marten | Also Tbhride, I split the signal alot of times, I have 2 amps, one with straight ampeg sound and another that has distortion on with the low end taken off |
| Marten | Thanks Bruce, yeah the Legacy has been my baby from the start |
| Marten | Legacy was actually just suppose to be a side project when LB was on a break but we got such a good response and liked doing it so much it more or less turned into a full time thing |

| Marten | we are planning on shooting a video for Legacy, its mainly to help promotion for the CD in Europe but I will make sure it gets posted on the legacy site as well. |
| StarFAN | who is distributing the Legacy cd in America? |
| Marten | we are working on that right now, its going through various labels in different countries in Europe/Asia etc |
| Marten | the "orginal" CD can be found in better record stores here as well as on the site |
| Marten | but its not clear who is going to re-release the "new CD" |
| Marten | but I heard its in the works |
| StarFAN | So metal blade wont release it? |
| Marten | It's an option.. |
| StarFAN | cool |
| Marten | We are waiting for the re-mastering to be completed so all these label get to hear the newer version |
| Marten | with new artwork and all that good stuff.. |
| Marten | But yes, Mblade is an option.. |
| Bruce | then why should i buy through Ammazon, when all I wat to do is support and help'send me to a compony that does not want to help you? |
| Marten | I dont get the question Bruce.. |
| Marten | which company are you refering to? |
| tbhride | the bands still get their royalties when sold on amazon |
| Bruce | If I buy a cd, I would rather "support the music," and have the profits generrate to you, than buy off of Amazon for 3 cents |
| Mark | Bands can distribute on Amazon directly by going to http://www.amazon.com/advantage |
| StarFAN | Sometimes it saves money to go through amazon |
| Marten | Yes you are correct Mark, also if you buy the Legacy CD for example on the site its the band that get any profit. |
| Mark | So what are the new bands you are into Marten? |
| Marten | And as far as a label for US |
| Marten | The word is out that we are looking for a label for Legacy in the States but we are holding off sending presskits and CDs to the labels until the Remastering, New Artwork, Bonus Material process is al |

| Marten | I know the SW CD is doing really well in japan so I think we have a trip coming up over there. |
| Marten | if I can do it (timewise) I will be out with George Lynch in June.. |
| Marten | and there might be Legacy shows in England |
| Bruce | So how do you figure on how to juggle between all of the prodgect? |
| Mark | So no summer fests in America then? |
| Marten | So if you are in Japan, England you have a good chance to see me live ;) |
| Marten | not as of right now, other then the Lynch Dates |
| Marten | We are looking for a tour with a bigger band for Starwood |
| Marten | someone who has a good draw, this way we get to play infront of packed house everynight, someone who is compatiable with us... |

| Marten | We got some offers yes |
| Marten | and I know there our managment has been working on various packages |
| Marten | unfortunately some of the offers has just been soo bad that there is no way we could do a tour on it.. |
| Marten | just from a financial standpoint.. |

| Marten | people do not realize how much it really costs to tour, crew, gear, bus, hotels, the list goes on.. |
| Mark | AR looked into doing a tour, but the finacial thing held us back as well. :( |

| Mark | I figure AR would need about 10 grand at least to do a tour |
| Marten | Its very different playing over here now.. |
| Mark | ...and that is a very small tour |
| Marten | we did a club tour with lizzy borden then we went over to europe and played festivals |
| Marten | alot of the bands go overseas and make better money and playing infront of more people. |
| StarFAN | fans need to go to shows more |
| Marten | yeah i hear even established bands get like 300 bucks a night.. |
| Marten | Some of them.. |
| Marten | there is no way you can do a tour on that.. |
| Marten | of course bands like quiet riot, who sold 10 millon cds gets good money |
| Mark | Quiet gets about ten grand a night still from what I hear |

| Marten | I am sure they do in good territories |
| Mark | ...of course that is with the original line up |
| Marten | off market they wont make that but thats probably why they did weekend warrior stuff for so long |
| Mark | In Olympia they can pack in about a thousand people |
| Marten | they had a system down where they would fly out on weekends to differernt cities and rent gear |
| Marten | Good for them.. |
| Mark | Olympia is a strange town to do a show in though. |
| Marten | there is a lot of new bands doing really well. |
| Marten | Metalblade has "AS I LAY DYING" |
| Marten | sold 120 thousand CDs so far |
| StarFAN | so what do you think about all the nu-core bands like as I lay dying |
| Marten | well "Lay Dying" have solos so thats really cool.. |
| Marten | I like a lot of these bands music but the vocals get to me after a while |

| Marten | I remember when I heard the first Van Halen CD.. Every freaking song on it was awesome |
| tbhride | and that cd is still better than 98% or rock records to come after |
