When I first got this DVD I was pretty excited. Then I noticed the total running time of this two disc set. Why is there two discs if this thing only lasts two hours? Do they not know that you can put more then two hours on one disc now? So this package got put on a back burner for awhile. Well, I figured that this was the day to get it off of my stack. So I finally open the cardboard box it came in and I was immediately even less interested. There was two plastic cases with two separate ‘unofficial documentaries’ in the box. What made me instantly less interested than I was before was that one of these two separate releases was a DVD I reviewed a little more then one year ago. It was annoyingly worthless back then and they didn’t do anything to make it any better this time. The music here is about as far from Guns And Roses as it gets. It is down right horrid and painful to listen to. There is an endless flow of rehashed info we have all known for years. The point of doing an unofficial documentary is to let out some info or footage that the band is trying to keep secret. Do not expect anything like that here. The saving grace of this thing is interview footage with former Hollywood Rose guitarist Chris Webber. He didn’t burn all his brain cells out and comes off as intelligent and informative. If you are a major Guns And Roses fan, this might be worth owning. For most this info can be found by just reading the Wikipedia page on the band.

The second disc is even worse. They have all these people flapping their gums about things like they are these big experts. One could only assume that these people are nobody special because they don’t list names or credentials for the majority of them. One they do give credit to shows how worthless he is to it all by saying that Guns And Roses was at the forefront of the metal revival of the 80’s. Anyone who knows their facts, knows that GNR came at the end of the 80’s metal movement. They were the band that blew many of the pretty glam bands off the charts. They gave metal the ugliness that killed off glam. There is a mix of recycled old facts most fans have had memorized for well over a decade now, and a bunch of nobodies giving their thoughts on unimportant aspects and events of the band. Overall, this DVD is more worthless than the first one.

So why do things like this come out? Because they sell. There are enough people that buy things without reading any reviews that a small profit is made. Some will see that it is Guns And Roses and buy it without a thought. Some will be drawn in because this is a ‘Collectors Box’, without researching at all if there is anything worth collecting here. On the other hand, there are some that just have to own everything Guns And Roses and don’t care that this entire set has not one single speck of new or shocking information on it. ‘Unauthorized’ used to mean something. This DVD set is a perfect example of why it now means ‘stay away’. This did not Rock My Monkey and I hope no one buys it.
