When I got this DVD in the mail, the first thing I thought was: The Dwarves? COOL! I have heard of The Dwarves, but I had never heard them. I have heard good things in the past about this band and thought that this was as good of a time as any to get acquainted with their music. I looked at the cover of the DVD. Naked chicks covered in blood molesting a couple dudes (one wearing a luchidore wrestling mask). I flipped the case over and read: Dwarves- featuring the FEFU video from the ‘Dwarves Must Die’ album. Banned Suicide Girls behind the scenes footage. Over an hour of rare unreleased Dwarves performances 1985-2006.

I do not understand the whole Suicide Girls phenomina. I have dated my share of girls in the past that looked like or aspired to look like a Suicide Girl. After dealing with those broads, something in my mind says, “CAUTION: PSYCHO!” I’m not saying that every chick that looks like that is a psycho, but that is definitely the stereotype that my mind has made up.

Anyhow, I had figured that I wasn’t going to be all that entertained, so I popped the DVD in with low expectations. The video was kinda lame (mainly because of the whole Suicide Girl thing, cuz I’m just not into it) but cool at the same time. The song, “FEFU” (stands for: Fuck Eat and Fuck You Up), on the other hand, kicks serious ass! A good song with a catchy chorus of Blag Dahlia screaming, “I wanna fuck/I wanna fuck/ I wanna fuck, eat and fuck you up”. Lot’s of boobs (Hey! Boobs are boobs, whether they have emotional problems or not!), good energy and a really solid song kept me entertained.

Next up was the making of the video and that was extremely boring (except for boobs) and had a bit too much penis from band member HE WHO CANNOT BE NAMED (who apparently always wears a mask of some sort… favoring the luchidore wrestling masks a la Rey Mysterio Jr). After that, there was a home made movie that centered around a chick that was trying to lose weight. They had an exercising montage where they played the song “You’re The Best” by Joe Esposito (from the Karate Kid movie), and that made me laugh.

There was a section of the DVD from their early years, which consisted of a music video and three live performances from ’89. The music video was definitely low rent and the song was pretty lame. The live performances were a different story. Fast and aggressive hardcore punk rock, DAMN RIGHT! Now this is what I am talking about!

The live performances section was pretty damn entertaining as well. Most bands that come out with DVD’s come out with what they think are their best live performances. This DVD consisted of a bunch of performances where somebody in the crowd would come up and try to fight one of the band members, which I thought was hilarious. Almost every video of live footage had them ending their set early because of some douche-bag in the audience or just fighting somebody.

The Interviews section was good and bad. The first interview was done back in the early 90’s, when the grunge explosion going on. They ripped on Nirvana and Soundgarden and made fun of Jon Poneman. My favorite part of the interview was when asked where they had played on their tour and Crash Landin said “We played Seattle and everyone in Seattle is a fag!” The second interview was lame. Two giggling girls in a poorly lit room asking barely audible questions with Blag Dahlia and HE WHO CANNOT BE NAMED.

The Extras section was just a shitty promo for an album, a couple live performances and a disturbing short video of kidnapping and raping a woman.

The DVD wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, which was a nice surprise. Once I got past the Suicide Girl thing, I enjoyed the rest of it. I’ll give it a 5 out of 10.
