GET THRASHED: THE STORY OF THRASH METAL
PREMIERES IN WASHINGTON

TRENTON- The makers of Get Thrashed: The Story Of Thrash Metal are proud to announce the Washington premiere of the documentary will be held on Saturday, June 2 at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival.

The film recently premiered in the thrash metal stronghold of Los Angeles.

Get Thrashed: The Story Of Thrash Metal is the story of bands like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and how they, and others, pioneered a new form of heavy metal in the early 1980s. This new music was called "thrash metal" and many of the bands went from playing friend’s parties and small clubs to touring the world and headlining arenas. Along the way, there were drugs, drinking, fights, deaths, mosh pits, leather jackets, long hair and most of all - groundbreaking new music. Eventually, the scene fell apart, but the seeds these bands planted gave rise to the new breed of extreme heavy metal we see and hear today. Get Thrashed features the music of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Kreator, Suicidal Tendencies, Pantera and many more, plus interviews with members of over 30 bands from old school (Lars Ulrich, Dave Mustaine, Kerry King, Gary Holt etc) to new school (Lamb of God, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Chimaira etc).

“Get Thrashed made me feel like I was looking into a scrapbook of my musical life,” said Anthrax bassist Frank Bello. “The film gets it right and makes you feel the vibe and pulse of this music that we all know and love.”

Get Thrashed will be screened on Saturday, June 2 at 2 PM at the Seattle Art Museum (1300 First Ave, Seattle, Washington 98101). Tickets are $8.00 and are available through http://trueindependent.org/.

Get Thrashed: The Story Of Thrash Metal documentary is produced by Saigon1515 Productions in association with Kundrat Productions. Get Thrashed was directed by Rick Ernst and the documentary’s Associate Producer is Rat Skates, former drummer of the legendary thrash band Overkill.

It's more of a money issue for me. Unless I get a ride from one of you Portland folks on your way up, I just can't afford it. Split the cost of gas and I can pull it off though.

I smell a pictory if a road trip is involved.

Is that the same as a photo gallery?

Yeah pretty much. A pictory is a story without words. You just can't shoot photos and call it a pictory. It has to record the moment in a way only a picture can. Kinda like the term a photo is worth a thousand words or some shit like that.

Yeah, if I was part of some big RMM road trip, there would have to be a huge photo posting afterwards. I would probably put it on the board instead of an official article though. I would go photo crazy though. :metal

I'm sure it'll come out on DVD eventually. Until the last few months I didn't know it would be released theatrically, I had assumed it would go right to DVD. They've been teasing us with this movie for a couple years now, so I'm hoping it will deliver the goods.

Unfortunately there was no info on when it will be out on DVD or anything like that, and I didn't know where the filmmaker was or if he was even at the screening so I got zero info. Once it's ready to be released they'll say so on their website though.

And now, my review:

Thanks for the great review. Mark....I think that this should be moved to the front page as a movie review so that it gets more reads.

I would love to if Brad gives clearance and tells me it hasn't been posted anywhere else. Reviews have to be exclusive, so if it is posted on several other boards I can't make it an official "article".

A Bradzila exclusive eh? :metal Thanks for understanding why I'm an anal retentive asshole about that. :D

I will try to get that as part of the Monday morning update. Lots to do after me and the wife go see Pirates (Not the porn...I have that on DVD already).

Blabbermouth has never posted a review from another independent metal site as far as I know. Recently I have had some pretty shitty luck just getting exclusive interviews on Blabber.

Hey Mark, I screwed something up. In the 5th to last paragraph about bands around the world I had Pestilence and Artillery from Holland, but I had forgotten Pestilence is from Holland but Artillery is from Denmark. It's fixed now.

On the old board I highly discouraged PM's because on that board, after you went over the limit, it would bounce messages to make room for the new one. So if I was sent 10 messages and the limit was five, I would have five messages bounced before I ever got to see them. Then people would get pissed at me because they thought I was ignoring them. This board software is much better as once you reach your limit, it just blocks you from sending or reciving anything until you clean up your inbox. So no chance of unread messages getting bounced before you read them.

So PM's are ok now. :cool

All that being said, this is a public forum. So I would rather most stuff be talked about in the open. However, therre are some things that I would rather have talked about in PM. Interview question ideas get stolen a lot in this industry. So sending it as a PM makes sure your question is not stolen by another webzine.

There are also some topic that would get this website shut down by the RIAA. So that should be done in PM as well. Or say two people on the forum want to flirt. Personally I don't want to read that shit. So I encourage people to do that in PM. So it is a balance and both have a purpose. Hope that makes sense. :cool

It does make sense. I was just talking shit since I recalled that you hated PMs at the old board.
