In theory, weekends are my hobby time: hiking, canoeing, snowshoeing, hunting, fishing, off-roading, reading, writing, photography, grilling, hanging out with friends and attending the occasional concert. In the winter, it's hard to beat grabbing a good book and soaking in the whirlpool for a couple hours.

In practice, chores and work that I foolishly bring home seem to consume a disproportionate amount of most weekends.

If there's one certainty to any given weekend, it's this: At some point, there will be Vixen and they will be LOUD!

Nearly every Friday and Saturday night I see one of the several local Chicago area bands I like, unless of course Vixen is in town. And by "in town" I mean pretty much anywhere in the country if I can afford the road trip, lol.

During the day, in summer I usually try to enjoy the weather somehow, by going to outdoor fests, playing outdoor sports, stuff like that.

Why Sundays... is it, like, in a church?

Yea, I sing and sometimes play bass for my church with a Praise and Worship group ... :)

That would make for a very cool service, even if you couldn't totally rock out. ...I'm flashing back to the old "Simpsons" episode where Bart dupes the church organist into playing his favorite hymn: "In the Garden of Eden" by I. Ron Butterfly.

Me and the wife like to catch a movie that takes no thought, has lots of explosions, and tons of cool special effects. Then we go out to dinner. Other then that I just sit on the computer taking care of Rock My Monkey.

My weekends vary depending on the time of the year. As Sports editor of a small weekly newspaper, in Fall through Spring, my Saturdays are usually shot covering high school sports or other school activities (I double as the paper's only photographer).

In the Summer, I sometimes have to cover American Legion or semi-pro baseball, but my fiancee and her two kids who are at home try to do day trips. We also putter around in the yard, have cookouts on the deck or burn wood in our fire ring out back. My lady and I also sometimes drive deep into the Northwoods of Wisconsin on landscape hunting trips, usually in the Fall or Winter. I also try to catch up on my freelance work on the weekends and a club here in town brings in Blues acts on Friday and Saturday. Some of these acts are national caliber he is able to get routed his way (though a Thursday or Sunday show is not out of the question for him.)

My fiancee and I ARE getting away for our first SOLO vacation next week to Cadott, WI for the annual four-day Rockfest they have there. I've been 10 of the last 11 years, but it's my lady's first time. It's a real endurance test as there is little shade, the temps are usually in the high 80s or 90s, blaring sun and no electric hook-ups in camping.

The upside is you get to see a lot of bands in four days. Some headliners this year are Godsmack, KISS, 3 Doors Down, Deep Purple and a ton of other acts. (24 acts in all, with the first act each day a regional band getting a shot on the big stage.)

And it's set up so you can photograph all these acts, too. Which is a plus for a lot of people. Many bands come out to the Meet -n- Greet booth and sign swag, too.

That's my excitement for the year, my ONE vacation and I usually need a vacation to recover from it.

I've never made it down to Rockfest, but I think seriously about it every year when I hear the lineup. We have something similar up here called Moondance Jam--four days starting on Wednesday. Not as heavy as Rockfest, but we've got Def Leppard, Tesla and Jackyl among the rockers this year. We've had Cinderella, the Scorps and Alice Cooper in years past. It's always a good time, but it'd be a whole lot better if they got Vixen in the lineup!

On the weekends if im not working i like to listen to music, play my bass guitar or keyboards or go out with freinds,oh and i do like having a couple of beers as well! lol.
If there are any gigs i go to those if a good band is playing or they sound intresting.
I like to do all of it in one weekend as well.
