Sticking to the exercise regiment has been a very difficult thing; life has a way of getting chaotic and as typical as it sounds, just really doesn't allow for working that daily work out schedule in.
But I've been sure to do it when I can, walking as often as possible instead of driving or riding elevators, running up and down stairs here at work instead of sending e-mails all day long, etc. etc. etc....and of course the big thing has been the change in diet...which really hasn't been that difficult...the only time diet gets challenging is when I'm on the road....it is really difficult to stick with a "healthy diet" when on the road trips on such so much...but I've managed to pulll through...
Anyways...the good news is...I had my yearly exam on Tuesday and since April 2006, I have now lost 27 lbs. :monkeybang
I'm really excited about that.....I've gotten to go out and get quite a few new additions to my wardrobe...and it makes me really motivated for sticking to everything I've been doing even more because I can only imagine where I'll be by this time next year...
It's slow, but for me, my major goal was to change the entire diet lifestyle...not to mass drop everything all at once. And I'm accomplishing it!!!! Yeah!!!!
congrats on the weight loss. its really hard sticking to a regimen to lose weight unless you make it a lifestyle. glad to see that you are doing so well.
since i have become a raw foodist, in february, i have lost 40 lbs. i dropped from fluctuating between 300 and 295 lbs to where i am down to, as of this morning, 259 lbs. since i started going down a more healthy road 2 years ago, after weighing 370 lbs, i have lost 110 lbs.
i guess dedication and education are the key. :)

Way to go!!!! That's about two pounds a month and a terrific way to take weight off. It is much easier to maintain that loss if done slowly. Keep up the good work....we are proud of you!

Congrats Katrina! :metal I had a set back recently that made me gain back the five that I lost. :cry
Very soon I will release "Episode Four: A New Hope" of the Videocast series. I will talk about the next painful step to fighting this battle of the buldge. All I will say now is that processed sugar is evil.

All I will say now is that processed sugar is evil.
My friend lost weight purely by cutting sugar out of her diet. She didn't do any exercise or anything, just stopped eating sugar.
I was thinking of partly doing that myself - just cutting out as much snacky unecessary sugar as possible, but on top of it I actually exercise (though I haven't been lately).
I'll start that no sugar thing right after I eat this cookie I've got sittin' here.:rotfl

Yeah...the sugar thing has really been a terrific success for me. I think that's one of the reasons I have been steadily loosing too. Cut out all of the high fructose corn syrup expecially. I really didn't drink a lot of soda, put did drink a lot of Power Ade...well it has huge amounts of high fructose corn syrup...so I switched to primarily water...when I do get a soda craving...I go for the Coke Zero w and w/o vanilla. I find that when I keep my water bottle/cup with me and have it with water at all times, I steadily drink off of it and don't get that "thirsty" craving...so I don't really have problems with getting tired of drinking water like a lot of my friends have complained about. But when I don't carry my water with me, I go into the thirst craving and then I don't really feel like water....???
Also, added a LOT of fruits and vegetables, unprocessed, some raw, but I do like a lot of my vegetables steamed....to my diet....that has helped a lot as well.
I've also worked really hard at portion sizes. I used to eat a medium sized lunch and then a pretty big dinner, which was about 7 or 8 or even later at night. Rather than having set meal times really, I've got to a "healthy eating" routine. Spacing out about six times a day....might start about 10 in the morning with a yogurt w/granola, and then something about every 2-4 hours after that...keeps me evened out.....don't get that starving feeling so much that makes me want to gorge myself....
I don't know...little things here and there....that's what I've found works the best for me....and once I make the habit change, I don't allow myself to go back. And pretty soon, it is routine and I feel like I'm ready to change one more bad diet habit. I always failed in previous attempts because I had this "perfection" thing going on....had to stop everything and do everything perfect starting today...and really accomplishing nothing except setting myself up for failure.

I have heard this so many damn times. I also hear that those people keep it off longer too. I really hate cutting it out because I am a total sugar addict and I LOVE sugar! Cutting out sugar is going to SUCK, but if it helps me loose the weight I am willing to do it. :cry
PS-It looks like I this whole thing is really helping people to get more healthy and that thrills me to no end. :metal

More good news!
So, I have been doing really well at keeping to the lifestyle change in regards to my diet...and now that construction is finished at work, we have a stairwell that is for emergency exit only behind our board room and I have added exercising for my two 15 minute breaks per day running up and down the stairs....
We had a biggest loser competition start up at work with our diabetic educator/nurse running it and to date, we have 210 participants. Everyone had to put in ten bucks and the biggest loser after 24 weeks (through the holidays) wins the pot!
The first week, I only lost .5 lbs, but last week, I lost 5.5! :metal
Anyway...the most excellent news is that I started my lifestyle changes with the desire to loose 150 lbs; I am now down to 108 to meet my goal! Damn! I'm feeling good! :metal

Hot damn woman! That is fucking awesome! :monkey
I love how they put in an emergency exit and you saw a stairmaster.
I was 250 when I started this and now I am 205. My goal is to be 150, but my doctor says he wants me to be 170. Originally his goal was 190, but he moved it when he saw me last. :D
