Never could get into him. Just sounded like random noise to me. It just sounds like a crappy garage band fucking around when they should be trying to write a song or two.

Another case of "I don't get it"!

I do have a question though for the fans of this guy. If I played his entire catalog on random, how many notes before you could name the song? Can you name any songs by hearing just a few notes? Just curious.

He did music for the film ( i can only remember one definite example though)

The scene where goro kills the black guy in the ring and shang tsung takes his soul

that was buckethead and Georgle clinton I believe

You sure about that? Wikipedia says..."The movie is renowned for its memorable theme music (Techno-Syndrome performed by The Immortals) and the film's soundtrack album went platinum on the Billboard charts."

So the majority of the musical score was done by The Immortals (an off shoot of the industrial band Lords Of Acid). You are partly correct though as track 16 on the soundtrack (not the score) was George S. Clinton featuring Buckethead - "Goro Vs. Art". So he was part of the team that created one song on the soundtrack.

I don't remember that one specific song as it has been about a decade since I have listened to that cd. Most of the cd (as a whole) was ok, but it got old very quick.

The ones I think I liked were...
2. Gravity Kills - "Goodbye (demo)"
3. KMFDM - "Juke-Joint Jezebel (Giorgio Moroder Metropolis Mix)"
8. G//Z/R - "The Invisible"
9. Fear Factory - "Zero Signal"
10. Sister Machine Gun - "Burn"
11. Type O Negative - "Blood & Fire (Out Of The Ashes Mix)"
12. Bile - "I Reject"
13. Napalm Death - "Twist The Knife (Slowly)"

You are not alone on this. In fact, I would not be shocked if I was in the minority. I am a little surprised that there is not more people talking about him as I know there are more Buckethead fans on these forums.

there are some songs that I love that you might want to try out though

just to get a feel - they are very avant garde though (is that why you don't like em?)

1.) welcome to bucketheadland
2.) Want some slaw?
3.) I Come In Peace
4.) Jordan (especially the Guitar Hero II version - he added a bitching solo to it)
5.) Binge and Grab (and it's companion instrumental version)
6.) star wars medely

I think the whole avant garde thing is bullshit. I like some things that are a little off the beaten path, but a good song is a good song no matter how strange it is.

When I first heard the cd Angel Dust by Faith No More I loved it. It was my favorite FNM cd and has remained so to this day. When it came out though, everyone was talking about how the band had flipped thier lid and made something so strange that it wasn't even musical. I was the odd man out wiht that and that just made me love it even more. I got it and most others couldn't wrap their head around it.

So I might not "get" Buckethead. That does not matter. What matters if you love it and if you can name your favorite song within seconds of it starting. Is it so unique and original that it stands out enough that a hardcore fan can name it within a few seconds? Then it must be a good song.

As far as the songs listed, I don't have the money to buy a ton of music. The cd's you see reviewed on this site are sent to me by the record company. In the rare case I get money to buy a cd, I go for something old that I know I love already. So far I have never ran out of old stuff to buy that I already love. Just too much great stuff out there. :metal
