I downloaded some songs onto my MP3 player and now it says no files. What could have happened and can it be fixed?

More info please. What did you use to transfer the files? What media player are you using?

Ya lost me! I am computer illiterate.

You used a USB drive, by media player I meant the hardware, not the software. :D

When you hook up your device through the USB drive, can you see the device through your Windows Explorer (the folders)? For mine it shows up as an "E" drive.

I believe mine shows up as E drive as well

So then I assume that you just drag and drop the files then? Do you see them in the "E" drive when you drop them in?

That part works just fine, the player itself says no files.

So you drag the files over, you see the files in the "E" drive, but the device doesn't see them?

Could it be that the device can only play a specific file type other then the one you are trying to give it?

For example:
My phone plays only one type of video. WMV. I can put any other video file type in there and it doesn't see it. WMV and there is no problem.

So maybe your player likes MP3 files and you are giving it Vorbis, lossy, Windows Media Audio (WMA), or AAC. I am just making a guess, but that is a very common problem.

Another problem is that you might be missing audio codec, but I don't think that is it. If it is a problem with the audio codec it will see it, but not be able to play it.

If that isn't the problem, I just need more info. :cool

The big problem is that it worked fine, til I erased the old music and put new music on it. Most of the music was the same as before. I am waiting for an email from the manufacturer, but I thought I would try here first.

So those same file types used to work fine and now suddenly they don't? Sounds like the device took a crap and died. Electronics do that a lot. I would seriously see about getting it replaced. However, it could be that you just need to update the firmware. If that is the case, the company will send you a link to do that and you should be fine.

Was it a firmware corruption?

It may be as simple as formatting the drive.
