black metal nowadays.
Dissection, Shade Empire, Windir, Agathodaimon...fucking sweet bands.
does anyone have any suggestions of bands i should give a listen to? i tend to lead more toward the melodic side and i'm not a huge fan of clean vocals.
let me know.

and i'm not a huge fan of clean vocals.
If they ever use true clean vocals, they are far from Black Metal.

yea i know. but a lot of bands consider themselves black metal and have clean vocals. i just had to throw that in there.

I'd suggest Darkthrone. They have a new album coming out soon called F.O.A.D. their last release was called The Cult Is Alive...some people think it has sort of a punk feel to it as well.It is definitely still Black Metal though.

Yeah...Emperor would be good. Also, knowing your tastes are somewhat like mine with the need for melody, I would suggest Bathory, Enslaved, and Ishan's solo (though not completely black metal). I also like some of Borknagar and Naglfar, too, but you sometimes wade through some weaker stuff to get through to the gems.

try out:
dawn
in memorium
vondur
nunslaughter
abruptum
fauna
ceremonial castings
twilight
blood ritual
to name a couple of my favorites. not all are melodic, but i personally like my black metal to be cold and harsh.

out of all the bands, i'd have to say emperor, in memorium, and marduk are deffinitly the most awsome.
borknagar i already knew of and they are amazing. their acoustic album is the best shit in the world to relax to.
thanks :)
ihsahn's solo stuff is absolutely amazing. i even dig the classical album he did with his wife Thou Shalt Suffer. ihsahn is the epitome of musical genius.

Immortal, Immortal, and.....well...Immortal.
If you want something truly raw with no clean vocals (unlike Emperor) I would suggest Blodsrit to you. They have an AWESOME sense of melody in their guitar playing, yet sacrifice nothing in the conveyance of said melody.
Marduk, Handful Of Hate, and Winter's Mourn are some other great options.

Inquinok
Naglfar
Absu
Sacramentum
I.C.E.
Fog
Raise Hell (first album only, the others aren't black metal)
Naglfar

I read the review, and with the praise heaped on it in a couple other pieces I've read about it I might have to pick it up.
