I just watched this movie last night and I thought it was great! Finally a movie about Irish people in organized crime. Matt Damon was okay, but Leonardo DiCaprio was great as always. He has not done a role yet that I havent enjoyed his part in. Anyways, quite the ending. My wife was disappointed but i thought that it was a great ending.

Actually I really enjoyed this movie, I thought the cast was excellent, the story was well written, the character development was solid, and the plot twists were good too. Plus I liked all the gratuitous swearing ;)

No reason for Scorsese not to have won the oscar on this one, BUT he has done far better films, and this should not have been his first Oscar.

I'll probably own this one eventually but there are a few other films on my list I'd like to buy first.

The Departed is easily the best movie of 2006.

Matt Damon was good in it, but he's much better as Jason Bourne, and remember, The Bourne Ultimatum will unleash its greatness Friday.

As for DiCaprio, he became one of my favorite actors toward the end of last year thanks to his roles in The Departed and Blood Diamond. I also must say that his work pre-Titanic, such as Basketball Diaries, seems as if it may be good, but no one could pay enough money to watch Titanic. EWWWW!

it has always blown my mind that scorsese hadnt won an oscar before this one.

True. Casino should have got him one. Although I think its a bit overrated, Goodfella's should have got him one. Then there's Raging Bull, which is high on my "to watch list," and one would think with all of the props that it receives that it would have got him one, but somehow it didn't.

casino is one of the greatest movies ever. that should have definitely gotten an oscar.
