ok, so i wrote an e-mail to melissa cross asking if she could fit me in her schedule for vocal lessons. she's pretty busy but i told her my story and she understands where i'm coming from and knows that i really want to make it. she told me to call the studio to set up an appointment. here's the thing. each lesson is $200. i know it's really pricey but, honestly, i think it's worth it. especially knowing that she can set me up with bands that are professionals when i feel i've reached my vocal peak. what do you guys think?

for those of you who don't know who melissa cross is, she's the vocal coach for bands such as arch enemy, lamb of god, sick of it all, and many many more.

the maestro david kyle charged $500 for 3 lessons.
how much is your vocal chords worth to you?

now, as far as ms. cross goes, she is an incredible teacher and will give you the tools you need to succeed. no doubt about that whatsoever. but, one pitfall to avoid is the fact that everyone of her students tend to end up sounding very similar. don't lose your individuality along the way. otherwise, rock out with your cock out!

Have you gone through her video lessons first? Chances are, it you haven't, she will start you with those basics paying $200 per while you could have done them at home for about $20 used from eBay or somewhere else.

Is she worth it....yup. But make sure you have all that background first before you go spending a lot for her personal time.

i got the cross vid and i found it enlightening. i'm not interested in doing vocals though... but when i was doing vocals for a band, it really did help. do you have the instructional video? i think that would work better than blowing a bunch of money.

What he said. She is a major force in growl vocalists leaving me bored now. Everything has that Melissa Cross sound, even if she wasn't the teacher. Everyone is trying to sound exactly like her students.

I would think some of the music stores, or possibly ordering it through a book store like Barnes and Noble. But you would find it cheaper either on eBay or Amazon used.

Yeah, I'd go with db's advice. I got it through amazon for my cousin. She dug it. You could probably even find a used copy on there... maybe? for cheaper. I don't remember paying 18.99 - I think it was more like 16 something so I must have got a used copy.

don't stress the free drinks or anything of the sort. you simply concentrate on the performance aspect. if'n you get the gig, you can rest assured i shall make sure to be there.
