Great interview. One of the Q&A's really caught my attention, the one where J.L. asked about how well the "Live & Learn" album went over with fans.

Jan said, "...We've had a great response to this record. People seemed to really 'get it'.... It came across better than we expected; that this is the natural progression of the true Vixen sound."

One of the DJs up here interviewed Jan just before the March casino concerts and, as part of the interview, played Edge and Cryin' from the first album, then played I Try to give us an idea what they sounded like today. My first reaction was, Holy crap, they're even better now.

I bought a copy of "Live & Learn" at the concert the next night and the first couple of times through I missed the classic pop-metal sound, but at the same time there were so many great straight-up rock songs that there was never any question that it was an outstanding album. It's easily become my favorite CD of the last several years. Other fans I've talked to have had the same reaction--it was different from what they expected at first, but then they realized, Hey, this is really damned good.

I just hope the next album picks up where "Live & Learn" left off.

Hey, thanks for that. It's nice to have direct feedback and you can rest assured that the next album will be even better!!

It's nice to have direct feedback...
Well, then, if I may:

Three things that really stood out for me on "Live & Learn":

1) The vocals on Little Voice. Tone, cadence, range, the big notes... whatever it is, it seems like all I hear when I listen to that song are the vocals.

2) The backing vocals on Suffragette City. It's a silly little thing, but the girly-girl sound to the "Hey, man!" lyric makes such a great hook.

3) Absolutely everything about I Try. The chiming intro, the vocals, the harmonies, the riffs, the layers and--dear God--the interplay (OK, I'm a geek, not a musician) between bass and lead guitar in the bridge.... It's, like, the perfect song.

If the next album's even better, I'll probably get fired for rockin' out when I should be working.
