Bay Area/San Fransisco:

My favorite thrash scene. Lots of underrated bands from Forbidden to Heathen to Vio-lence to Forbidden to Ulysses Siren, along with legends like Exodus.

Testament - Their earlier work is absolutely timeless. Why they never got bigger is beyond me.

L.A.:

Dark Angel - Lots of great bands from L.A. such as Megadeth, Agent Steel, Holy Terror, Slayer, Abattoir and Hirax, but Dark Angel doesn't get enough recognition for being the thrash powerhouse that they were.

New York/New Jersey:

Demolition Hammer - Much as I love Overkill, Whiplash and Anthrax, for me there's almost nothing better than Demolition Hammer's first 2 albums.

Germany:

Destruction - Bunch of people I know like Kreator better. I like Kreator, but always thought Destruction wrote better, catchier songs.

England:

Onslaught - I'm not a huge fan of a lot of British thrash, as much of it is very punky and lots more is pretty derivative of the Bay Area style, but Onslaught put out a couple really good albums, particularly "In Search of Sanity" featuring ex-Grim Reaper throat Steve Grimmett.

Canada:

Sacrifice - I can't say enough about Annihilator, but Sacrifice satisfies that urge for refined yet savage thrash.

Forbidden--consider praise lavished...

L.A.

Slayer (nuff said)

New York/New Jersey

Overkill. Honorable mention: Slaughterhouse (NJ)

Germany

Kreator (this really is too easy...)

England

Onslaught.

Canada

Ahh, now it gets interesting: Piledriver! with an honorable mention to Slaughter (Canada). No, that would not be the "Fly to the Angels" boy band...

Exciter: "Heavy Metal Maniac"

and

PILEDRIVER: "Metal Inquisition"

"I, the Piledriver
High Priest of the Metal Inquistion
find you GUILTY of crimes of sorcery and witchcraft..."

(or something--it's been 20+ years since I've owned a copy of that album)

I had to obtain a not-so-legal copy from a friend a while back, but it's got both albums on it. For a "joke" band it's actually quite good.

I looked at one right after I posted last night and thought---eh, pricey.
Much as I get a kick out of the band, starting price of $27 is a lot.

However, in other news, I scored used (unfortunately) copies of Ultimate Revenge I & II. Few little bouncing lines on the Slayer set, but still watcheable (they're on VHS, of course).

That's funny, I wonder how much my vinyl is worth?, I have the Canadian release.

I picked up the imported "Metal Inquisition" on CD about 8 years ago for $18.99...:metal

It has a 1986 PILEDRIVER interview with the German metal mag "Rock Hard" as the final track.

Of course it also contains "Sex With Satan"

and "Sodomize The Dead".....:dogstyle

Correction: after I posted in this thread, i re-checked and the lowest price for a new cd (the combined version) was $41.

So i got 4 Sodom cds, one double English Dogs cd amd one double Sacrillege cd instead-- sure I spent twice as much....
