"YOUR MOMMY KILLS ANIMALS" DVD HITS SHELVES TODAY… MAYBE?

- Some retailers pull DVD due to intimidation tactics of Washington lobbyist, others -

Los Angeles, CA, November 13, 2007 - Some retailers, including Amazon.com, have pulled the critically-acclaimed, award-winning documentary "Your Mommy Kills Animals" from shelves and websites in advance of its November 13, 2007 street date. According to one retailer, the film was pulled due to legal threats from a well-known Washington lobbyist who represents major corporations in the tobacco and food industries.

"Our understanding is that there is no legal restriction on the film whatsoever and some retailers are buckling under threats that have no legal basis," said Matt Pizzolo, President of the film's distributor Halo-8 Entertainment. "The irony is that this provocative documentary tackles the issue of freedom-of-speech in political protest. Although critics have lauded the film for its objectivity, it is falling victim to several of the same parties who seek to silence some of the film's interviewees."

According to official court documents, the film's director Curt Johnson (2006 Academy Award Winning "Thoth") was sued in United States District Court For The Eastern District Of Virginia by Richard Berman of The Center For Consumer Freedom. In the court's Memorandum Opinion, Judge T.S. Ellis III decided that Johnson has all the rights necessary to release his film. Nonetheless, a campaign of Cease & Desists sent to movie theaters and retailers has intimidated many into pulling the title and canceling customer pre-orders. The DVD will still be available from a number of outlets, including the distributor's website www.halo8.tv, on the official street date of November 13, 2007.

Inspired by a post-9/11 FBI alert identifying animal rights activists as the number one domestic terror threat, Johnson sought out embattled activists and their detractors to determine the actual danger posed by the movement. Johnson interviewed the SHAC7, young activists who violated federal anti-terrorism laws by encouraging direct action protests via their website. The freedom of speech issue surrounding the SHAC7 trial serves as the lightning rod of "Your Mommy Kills Animals," drawing in a spectrum of commentators with numerous points of view and passionate ideologies.

Halo-8 Entertainment (www.halo8.tv) is devoted to supporting the unique visions of bold filmmakers by widely releasing dangerous films and alt-lifestyle videos through a combination of grassroots outlets and major studio distribution. Recent releases include the award-winning, controversial thriller THREAT (which Urb Magazine said "makes KIDS look like an after-school special") and the award-winning protest film EXIST (hailed as "uncompromising… impressive" by Variety). Upcoming releases include the alt-slasher movie PUNK ROCK HOLOCAUST 2 and the alt-lifestyle videos YOGA FOR INDIE ROCKERS and VEGAN COOKING FOR ANIMAL LOVERS.

Everyone I know kills animals. (Hell, it's Texas.....only endangered species we have here is known as "the liberal")

And we eat them.

And we love them.

And we don't care.

Coincidentally, I also man-love Vish, so I will say this.....I'll never kill an animal in front of you, Vish. :flash

I'm eating meat right now. Although I find meat yummy, I also know that Vish would make a very good "Vegan blogger" when he finds the time. :cheers

I will preface this by saying that I still eat fish and I'm not willing to give up sushi. But I watched "Meet Your Meat" on Valentine's Day and haven't touch a bite of beef, chicken, or pork since. If you watch that and still want to eat chicken then you are mostly heartless. I even get mad now if hubby brings home regular eggs. I'm reading labels more. I'm not perfect, and I definitely have my hypocritical moments (i.e. I still own and sometimes wear my leather jacket), but I am more conscious now of the effect my purchases have on animals.

HAHAHA! I had no fucking clue that people like me are considered #1 on the terror watch list! Fuck the religious extremists, America needs to stop all of these non-meat eaters! People that wont kill animals are obviously abortionists and... and... uh... THEY HATE AMERICA AND BABY JESUS!

For the record I have no problem with vegetarians, vegans, etc...

I do have a problem with the militant ones. PETA is the worst.

A few years back when I was in the dorms PETA was picketing a local KFC, deriding and trying to keep people from entering and shouting and cursing at generally anyone within earshot and being pretty distruptive [/run on sentance]. A friend of mine drove by with an open carton of eggs and chucked the thing at them :rotfl

Yeah, extremists excite other extremists. This is why I hate any one with a picket sign other then Unions (card carrying member of the Teamsters Union). Ask someone hanging out in front of an abortion clinic if they have ever been convinced to hate the war by someone holding a picket sign. Then ask the anti-war extremists if any of them have ever been convinced to hate abortion by someone holding a picket sign. It's fucking stupid.

I understand why people stop eating meat. I just have my reasons for doing it as well. No throwing blood on someone with a fur coat is going to make me change my mind. In fact I tend to eat more meat when I see shit like that because it pisses me off.

i like to use education as my tool to get people to stop eating meat or going totally vegan. it has worked a hell of a lot better than being hostile. one of my close friends is damn near 100% vegan now, and he was a total meat eater a year ago. i have gotten other people to change, and i have never once said a mean word to anybody to get them to change. doing protests like that and other forms of idiocy tend to make people want to spite the people acting like douchebags. i know that when i am provoked, the one thing i truly want to do is spite whoever is doing the provoking. im a spiteful as hell person, and i think that most people are, whether they want to admit it or not. my grandma has always told me, "you can catch a lot more flies with honey than with vinegar." hence, i have always noticed that expressing my compassion towards animals in condemnation of factory farm slaughter houses instead of expressing my anger directly at the factory farm slaughter house practices is a much better route to go.

i dont even have a problem if people want to eat meat, it's their life, they are going to do what they want. i definitely encourage anybody that doesnt want to quit eating meat to at least look for meats that are slaughtered in a kosher way, because no living being deserves to be treated the way that mass produced chickens, turkeys, cattle, etc are treated on a daily basis. for the christians out there... is that how your god would want you to be treating his creation?

for me, it just came down to looking in my dog's eyes. i cant imagine killing her (unless it is for mercy from old age or a disease, but even then i am going to be a fucking wreck). ive been to farms, i have seen cows, chickens, turkeys and everything. they are all noble creatures and deserve respect. indigenous tribes, the world over, respect the food they have killed. they honor it. there is nothing honorable about the way that the kfc factory farms, the tyson factory farms, etc, etc, treat their animals.

a person can say "fuck the animals" because they may not be sentient. they cannot organize the way humanity can. they may be lesser beings. but there is definitely one thing they have in common with us, and that is that they can suffer. nothing but the vilest of the vile deserve to suffer the way that these animals suffer.

I live directly behind a KFC and I think we have eaten there like an average of once a year at best. It is over priced and not that great. There is so much better food out there.

I would probably eat there more if I started hearing they treated my food better though.

Lol, when I read his post, before I scrolled down, I was thinking you wouldn't like that post very much. But really, KFC truly sucks. In every way possible. Sucks.

I don't remember who said it, but I like this quote:
"I'm not a vegetarian because I love animals. I'm vegetarian because I hate plants"

Actually it was aimed at Mythos's comment, and not to piss you, him, or anyone off. I respect your thoughts on the issue and all BECAUSE IT'S YOU, but you already know that I ALSO think the whole hardline animal rights thing is one of taller crocks of shit on the planet. Not to mention PETA is one of the worst, most misleading bunch of assholes in existance (a lot of people haven't seen the side of their agenda that I have, having been involved with the reptile field for so long). So, it's kinda wierd, but much in the way that you're never going to warm up to guns (whereas I love guns, and weapons in general), that's the same way I feel about people running their mouth about "don't eat meat" this and "the poor animals are being hurt" that. So don't take it personal, who gives a damn if I like KFC? No where that I eat will be "ok" by you, in the sense of it all pertains to meat and whatnot...I was merely commenting that KFC tastes good...which it does, in my opinion.

Anyways, so if I send you naked pics of my ass will you be happy again? :D
