I just discovered Outworld while listening to a bunch of "ultimate thrash riffs" and "real metal vs. false metal" compilations on YouTube.

Has anyone else heard this band that seems to be pretty fucking badass?

Well, it turns out that world renowned guitarist Rusty Cooley is in Outworld. Until now I thought that he was just another wanker like Satriani, Vai, Buckethead and so on. Sure those guys are phenomenal guitarists, but instead of playing actual music in true bands they do nothing but play what they believe are the wickedest solos imaginable, which are cool for a minute or two, but not for a damn hour! With that said, I'm glad to see that at least one of these guys is playing real music, which also happens to be fucking killer.

Sounds pretty cool. Cool guitar playing. I don't like the singer, but I looked on Wikipedia and the singer and the keyboardist quit and they are getting a second guitarist and a new singer. A second guitarist will definitely be cool and I am interested when they release a new album. Those were some cool riffs.

Thats mostly how I feel about it too. Cooley comes across as a bit of a circus act to me.

i've been listening to Outworld for quite some time now. i think i posted a thread quite some time back. they're effing amazing. i have their new album. it's deffinitely worth buying. rusty cooley is the effing man. and he gives guitar lessons via the internet now if anyone's interested.
