Am I the only one who found this movie more amusing than "scary"? I was actually giggling most the time. I mean - they touted this like a horror film, but it was more amusing/dramatic to me. I bet I'd have been creeped out if I'd read the book instead, but man these "horror" films just really aren't scaring me anymore. It's like these directors have no clue how to get Stephen's suspense to translate from book to film. The creatures were kinda cool. However, the spiders were laughable. I'm usually extremely scared of spiders, but these ones were so fake looking they didn't even creep me out at all. And don't even get me started on the ending of the film. It was so disappointing and extremely unrealistic...

i dunno. i read the book way back and absolutely loved it. i believe it was in a collection of short stories, right? anyway, i think they did the movie very well as far as all of the monsters are concerned. i know what you mean though about the slight humor of the movie. it wasn't really that scary as it was comical. especially the lady who thought she was the new moses.
I didn't find it scary but the monsters were alright. I actually liked the ending. :p
i liked it...i think it captured the book very well...i liked the ending too...

Yeah - I liked certain elements of the ending, but I was just like "Awww COMEON!" Like they wouldn't have at least waited it out for three more minutes or something?... lol.
Worst movie of 2007 by a long shot.

got this movie at blockbuster a week ago or so. definitely not even worth the free rental. horror movies just seem to get worse as time goes.
