View Full Version : Does Black Tide really sound like Avenged Sevenfold?
Perhaps the reply to this question should be "don't be so damn lazy, find out for yourself."
With that, some guy said to me the other day that "Black Tide sounds just like Avenged Sevenfold."
I think that Black Tide sounds like new school thrash, if there is such a thing, along the lines of The Art of Balance & The War Within era Shadows Fall, and The Crusade era Trivium.
When I gave Avenged Sevenfold a chance awhile back, I didn't get that impression at all, and I couldn't stand them so I'd rather not listen to them again, and I hope that someone knows the answer to this question, and feels like answering it. :)

Ummm? Hell no? The two are very different. Avenge Sevenfold is more of a nu)metal metalcore thing and Black Tide is more of an old school metal bordering on thrash at times with a slight southern influence.
They have about as much in common as Slayer and Judas Priest.

no no I didn't mean you don't like them,..I just don't want to be the one to tell their difference from Black Tide....Some of those bands like Avenged Sevenfold,Bullet For My Valentine, and Fallout Boy I avoid like the plague.I'm not sure why though they just give me a lame vibe

Fall Out Boy is nothing like the other two you mentioned. I think that with BFMV and Avenge Sevenfold you have to ignore the lame Hot Topic image and the stupid names and just listen to the music. They actually both have really great cd's out right now. FOB on the other hand can go away as far as I care.

Well, Slayer was heavily influences by Judas Priest, but I get what your saying. Black Tide is just influenced by 80's metal. A good amount of there songs are pretty thrashy, but a couple are just straight ahead metal tunes. Black Tide is a good band.
Mark, you like Avenged Sevenfold's self titled album?!?! I thought it was shitty and I liked City of Evil.

I can hear no similarities between Black Tide and Avenged Sevenfold. Mark was right in saying that Black Tide is much more old school and Ax7 is more nu-metal, though their last album had some pretty blazing solos.
I would say that this is one of those apples and oranges discussions. No comparisons whatsoever, in my opinion.

I've heard a few songs from each band and they don't sound anything alike to me.

That's what I figured since I not only recalled what AS sounds like just enough, but also because the guy who said that is a grade A fucking retard.
Thank you very much for clarifying this. :maiden
