This guy was a key component of an amazing rock band. He played a major role in creating one of the greatest rock albums of all-time. When he makes comments such as the one above, he has the ability to come across as someone who may be intelligent and/or respectable. However, he let his voice turn to shit by 1991, and worst of all, he transformed into Asshole Rose, one of the most unprofessional pieces of shit in all of music by doing the following: Staying in his dressing room until at least 11:00 night after night during the real Guns N' Roses' last few tours, inciting two full-scale riots, sitting on an album for fourteen years and counting, being easily more to blame for the demise of an amazing band than anyone else and dragging that band's name through the mud by putting together a glorified tribute band.

All in all, the guy is a piece of shit, and worst of all, he's a piece of shit who seems as if he should be redeemable. Damn that's fucking irritating!

Before alternative and grunge were popular, G&R was not considered "alternative" and since alternative and grunge died out, G&R has not been considered "alternative"

And on a personal note - I don't think that quote is really all that redeeming when half his OWN BAND were junkies and he's talking shit about Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. Kurt Cobain was a beautiful person. AT least he offed himself before the whole "being famous" thing made him say too much stupid and crazy shit... before it made him wear corn rows.... before it made him a recluse liar talking shit about his ex bandmates and never releasing and oft-anticipated album... :rotfl

What Axl Rose is saying is what makes those bands so "alternative". Metallica was just as alternative to what was going on in the 1980's as Nirvana was. Nirvana gets way to much credit and I'm glad that alot of kids my generation think he is a douche bag because essentially thats what he is. Not saying that Axl isn't a complete idiot himself. If anyone knows the story behind GN'R and Nirvana. Guns N' Roses loved Nirvana and wanted to tour with them and Axl was always saying how much he loved Nirvana's music. Kurt Cobain went out and just bad mouth Guns N' Roses and eveyrthing about them. Saying things like they weren't a "real" rock band. Fuck you Kurt Cobain. You obviously don't know shit about any of those 5 guys. I hate when people say Guns N' Roses was all about the popularity. You think Slash and Izzy gave a shit. Sorry, I know alot of people here are Nirvana fans and I like there music too. I just think Kurt Cobain gets waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much credit and I won't even comment on my thoughts about his suicide.

I don't think thats true. I know the term alternative was started way back in the early 1980's with punk rock. The grunge bands aren't do any guitar tunings that are any different than other bands that were popular in the early 90's. However if your going to bring Sonic Youth into this then yes your right.

Ok - I guess that makes more sense. They all got popular and legendary eventually. I don't think any of us "youngins" were thinking of the word "alternative" in the usage of alternative tunings. Plenty of bands did that before the 80's and 90's I'm sure, as well as plenty of bands who still do and are not called "alternative"

Now that you clarified Slasher, it makes more sense... Because he's right - None of the bands mentioned so far were really all that "alternative" (in the 90's usage of the word)- they were all pretty much mainstream ;)

What you don't see is that it also added some really sweet features to wipe every post from a spammer in seconds and ban them at the same time. They can have 20 bots (it's not a real person doing these posts) going against me and I can still beat them at their game with your help. :monkey
