View Full Version : Guns N' Roses, "Crash Diet"
This song would have been amazing with proper production.

I have always loved this song and I have absolutely no idea why they didn't put it on Use You Illusions. It could have replaced so many crappy songs on those albums...
That's an extremely badass song. Must have been written around the time that Slash and Mustaine were jamming together and booting heroin.

It's interesting that you mentioned this since I've been thinking about how the Use Your Illusion albums would have been much better as one album, and here's my ideal version of it:
1. "Right Next Door to Hell"
2. "Don't Damn Me"
3. "Double Talkin' Jive"
4. "Locomotive"
5. "Don't Cry (Original)"
6. "Bad Obsession"
7. "You Could Be Mine"
8. "Pretty Tied Up"
9. "Back Off, Bitch"
10. "Crash Diet"
This way it would have contained mostly badass hard rock/metal songs, and would have been just 49:25 long.

I agree with those songs, but add
11. "Dust N' Bones"
12. "Perfect Crime"
13. "Live and Let Die"
14. "The Garden"
15. "Garden of Eden"
Dust N' Bones is my favorite song off the Use Your Illusions CD's.

Civil War should be on there also, thats a killer song.
Uh... November Rain needs to be there somewhere.

If you like that song, it's cool, but that song needs to fucking die a horrible death as far as I'm concerned. One of the worst ballads of all-time.

Eh, i agree and disagree. It's no where near Sweet Child O' Mine, but November Rain is a well put together song and the guitar solo is sweet.

Perhaps I have so much disdain for "November Rain" because it's so damn overplayed. However, I have no problem admitting that Slash played some amazing leads in that song. Also, something tells me that "November Rain" was probably a hell of a lot better when it was a demo in the 80's.
Anyway, "Sweet Child O' Mine" was my absolute favorite song when I was insanely devoted to Guns N' Roses many years ago.
Okay, here's the demo version of "November Rain" from the Appetite for Destruction sessions.
I'm not sure if it's better, worse or any of that subjective bullshit, but what's true is that Axl's voice was actually quite good way back then. Also, it may have been a good idea to stick with the vocal melodies in this version.

i think November Rain is 100% brilliance... and the piano version demo axl did was equally cool.
Guns N' Roses MTV Rockumentary, 1989.
This is pretty interesting overall.
