In the first months of 2009, The Devil Wears Prada entered the studio with producer Joey Sturgis to record their third full
length album and Ferret Music debut, With Roots and Above Branches Below. Alternative Press regarded the
upcoming album one of the most anticipated albums of 2009.
The Devil Wears Prada’s music is possessed of equal parts slithering metal riffage meshed with plush rock passages,
peppered with a barrage of synth sounds and harsh to melodic vocals. Their attack is complicated further with
unexpected twists and turns in composition, larger melodies and a more focused aggression.
The Devil Wears Prada, formed in 2005 in Dayton, Ohio, started out riding high on Rise Records, releasing Dear Love: A
Beautiful Discord which scanned over 50,000 copies and Plagues which has sold over 100,000 copies. In 2008, right
before embarking on the Van’s Warped Tour, The Devil Wears Prada announced their signing with Ferret. The band
composed of Jeremy DePoyster (guitar/vocals), Daniel Williams (drums), Mike Hranica (vocals), Chris Rubey (guitar),
Andy Trick (bass) and James Baney (keys) has been incredibly busy since the release of Plagues, including headlining
multiple tours in the US and internationally and have also been featured on multiple festivals worldwide.

Gritty, emotionally stirring and vibrant with vitriol, Phantom Communique possess a dynamic and undeniable spirit. With a respect for the rock of old and a knack for heavy hoods, the Baltimore foursome perfectly captures that spirit on their American Voodoo debut full-length release, The Wolf And The Sheep. The album features a ferocious blend of aggression and melancholy that will serve as a much needed wake up call to the masses. This quartet has begun to revolutionize hard rock pushing the boundaries of conventionalism to new limits. The future of the genre never looked so bright.

I was really thrown by this band at first. All the press tries to sell them as a doom metal band, but all I heard was straight up Metalcore. After talking with the bands drummer I wonder how this Doom rumor was even started. So to be clear, this is not the rap guy and the band does NOT play anything even close to Doom. They do however play some vicious Metalcore with unrelenting attitude.
This is our exclusive interview with drummer Jackson Thompson where we talk all things Noriega, Desolo, Doom, Metalcore, and even why the cool kids are buying cassette tapes again?

I have to admit that this band had (up until this point) somehow alluded me. When I first scheduled the interview I thought I was getting some hot new band to the scene. As it turns out this band is well established, has had a few hits, and is far from new. If you are a fan of 90's era rock I strongly recommend you check out not just the new release linked above but their entire catalog.
