Win A Phone Call From Carmine And Vinny Appice!

click to enlargeSo the April 22nd Drum Wars show was changed to June 3rd. The rest of the world waits to see when this amazing show will be brought to their hometown. Well, how about this then? How about we kick off a contest where you people tell us why this show needs to come to your hometown? How much will your hometown embrace the spectacle that is the Appice brothers battling it out to see which pronunciation of their iconic name is correct? Which brother is your favorite and why? Is it the Hard Rock style of older brother Carmine? The Ballad-less leanings of younger brother Vinny? Tell us why you are the ultimate Appice fan!

Why you ask? Well, the winner will win a call from these two legends. That's right folks. The Appice brothers will call you at a set time (To be determined) and chat for 30 minutes. How cool is that? Want to ask them about something that was said in our interviews with Carmine and Vinny? Want to ask them career advice? Are you a drummer and you just can't figure out some fill that Carmine used on your favorite Vanilla Fudge cd? Is there a Black Sabbath drum part you need to learn for your tribute band? Do you want to know what their favorite pizza topping is? This is your chance to speak to legends.

Nobody's commented on this? REALLY?

Well, ok. I guess here it goes. I have no idea where to start or where to end, but I'll give this a shot because it would be pretty damn cool to talk to the Appice bros for half an hour and exchange dead baby jokes. They're both amazingly legendary, but that goes without saying.

With Carmine, we've got Vanilla Fudge, King Kobra and Blue Murder [my personal WE'RE NOT WORTHY moment] among the catalog. With Vinny, there's Sabbath, Dio and WWIII [my other personal WE'RE NOT WORTHY moment]. So what's there to even discuss as far as who's my favorite? There's no way to decide, dude. How DARE you ask me such a question.

So why should they come to my town? Well, I'm in NY. They've already done 2 dates in NY but in the "other" parts of NY. I'm in Queens but nobody comes to Queens anyway unless you're a rapper trying to retrace your roots in Jamaica (L'Amour East went down years ago so that doesn't count). I'll settle for Brooklyn or Manhattan as areas for them to come within the 5 boroughs. They're Brooklyn boys, and if anyone is gonna be the honest judge of these Drum Wars, it's gonna be rude loudmouth New Yorkers that these guys grew up with. We'll be the place to give you 40 drunk men on a Wednesday night and sell the place out and somehow mosh to a mellow rhythm. CLASSY AS IT GETS and perfect for Drum Wars. They're kinda forced to come this way anyway. I mean, this isn't North Dakota, which everyone knows doesn't really exist. It's freakin' New York. Everyone comes to New York. I don't even have to write this and they'll come to New York.

So there's one more day to submit entries and I seem to be the only comment here unless the others are hidden. Either way, I have nothing better to do than listen to WWIII's first album and pray for a reunion (no, Mandy Lion randomly playing in L.A. and tweeting about cyber bullying and animal shelters doesn't count) or annoy my Indian neighbors with my belting "Ready To Strike" while they watch cricket. This has been my horrible attempt at a funny comment. The reality is I love music and these two brothers have been big figures along the history of it. It would be the chance of a lifetime to talk to these two guys on the phone. I'll listen to them read the dictionary and it will still be an awesome moment.

Seriously though, they've contributed to some of the best stuff in my collection. It would just be kickass. That's it.
