AUGURY ANNOUNCE FOURTH NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
Canada’s progressive death metal juggernauts AUGURY have teamed up with labelmates SOILWORK & DEATH ANGEL to tour North America for the fourth time in support of their Nuclear Blast debut, Fragmentary Evidence. Also on the bill are Mutiny Within and SWASHBUCKLE from New Jersey.
States lead singer/guitar player Patrick Loisel: “We are very proud to be part of such a great tour with SOILWORK, perform alongside legends such as DEATH ANGEL (a band whom I covered in my old bands), and join our brothers in Swashbuckle again. It's quite a thrill!”

AUGURY DRUMMER ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE FROM BAND
Creators of a progressive-minded extreme metal, Montreal's juggernauts
AUGURY sadly report the departure of their drummer Antoine Baril.
States Baril:
"I'm very sad to have to announce my departure from AUGURY. Some
personal and professional reasons have made multiple tours impossible
for me at the moment. I wish all the best for AUGURY because those
wonderful guys are making incredibly good music. I will never forget
those memorable shows and I would like to thank everyone for their
support on the road everywhere we've been on tour."
States the band:
"AUGURY thanks Antoine for all the good times and excellent music, and
we wish him well in all aspects of his life. He will remain a close
friend for all of us. For the upcoming tour with VADER [in support of
their new album Fragmentary Evidence], drummer Robin 'Frog' Stone from
Australian industrial metal mad scientists The Amenta will take over the
drum throne. He is a very tight and skilled drummer, having learned our
set in a matter of hours. Go to

AUGURY FRONTMAN: "I'M A BIG FAN OF DALER MEHNDI."
MetalUnderground.com recently posted an interview with AUGURY's lead
vocalist Patrick Loisel:
Tell me about the name of the band. Does it have a direct connection to
the lyrics?
Patrick: Of course augury is a way to see the future from signs in
nature. The wind, the storms, the sight of a bird, whatever. The main
meaning most recently comes to use from a book I read on the Salem witch
trial. What I read is that anybody who did something unusual could land
in jail. The name of the charge was the "felony of augury." Meaning
forbidden knowledge, which is kind of the central meaning behind the
lyrics. Back at that time if somebody knew about medicinal plants it was
like "Oh she's a witch, kill her."
Outside of Augury what bands are you getting into lately?
Patrick: Myself I don't listen to a lot of music. I'm the kind of guy
who likes to do a lot of precise work so I like silence a lot. When I
listen to music I'm really into bands like Akercocke. Emperor, Strapping
Young Lad, a lot of Norwegian black metal. A lot of Arabic and Indian
pop music too, the kind of stuff you hear in Indian restaurants. If I
could I'd eat Indian food like 21 meals a week.
I'm not sure whether it's Indian or not but have you heard that "Tunak
Tunak Tun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bAN7Ts0xBo " song?
Patrick: I love that song. I sing along with that one. I learned the
lyrics and I love to sing along. I even translated the lyrics. He's only
two years older than me, that guy. I'm a big fan of Daler Mehndi. The
background music is really ugly but the basic melody of the vocals is
great. "Tunak" is far from being his best song, but it's the only song
where he harmonized four lines of vocals. He did it live and recorded
that tune in like half an hour. Try to sing his vocal lines, he's one of
the best vocalists on Earth. Type in Daler Mehndi on YouTube. He's like
the Indian Gwen Stefani. There's another guy - he's like a Yngwie
Malmsteen with a turban. I've met a lot of third world metal musicians.
One of my dreams is to play all of the places described in the movie
"Global Metal." Except maybe Iraq, I don't want to get gunned down.

Creators of an extreme metal that includes death, black, and progressive tinges, Montreal's juggernauts AUGURY will release their album, Fragmentary Evidence, on August 11th in North America. The band will launch their maiden tour of the U.S. in support of God Dethroned on September 30th and will return to the States again with label mates VADER in November's "Decibel Presents: Monsters Of Death Tour."
Dominic Forest, AUGURY bassist, checks in from Montreal and shares the following about the upcoming VADER trek:
"We are really proud and thrilled to tour with a cult band such as VADER and are really eager to join our friends Decrepit Birth on the road. We will do video blogs while touring, so keep in touch with us on our MySpace page!!!"

CANADA'S AUGURY TO LAUNCH MAIDEN TOUR OF NORTH AMERICA WITH GOD DETHRONED
Ready to embark on their first tour of North America in September with
Dutch death metallers God Dethroned, New York's Abigail Williams, and
Ohio's Woe Of Tyrants in support of their Nuclear Blast debut,
Fragmentary Evidence (release date: August 11th), members of Montreal's
AUGURY check in from their rehearsal space in their hometown of Montreal
with the following:
"It'll be exciting to spread our music to a larger audience in America,"
states guitarist Mathieu Marcotte. "Even though we have never played
there yet, we have a lot of fans who are waiting to see us live. The
challenge is the same wherever you're playing: to put out your best
every night while having fun."
Drummer Antoine Baril adds: "There are so many great cities that I've
always been dreaming to visit and it's even better to know that we will
play a show in each one of them. My biggest challenge is to get better
and better as a musician at each show and spread energy to the crowd to
share the endless passion I have for this music we play."
"What we expect is a spiral of colliding human bodies, rotating as a
single mass, yielding all that energy," predicts vocalist & guitarist
Patrick Loisel. "In the end, it'll be like Godzilla trampled your
town!"
In addition to pledging multiple updates during the tour and answering
all fan e-mails, AUGURY's self-described "archive freak" (Baril) will be
uploading video footage from the tour onto the band's MySpace site.
