New England Metal And Hardcore Festival Adds Stage For Up And Coming Bands

WORCESTER, Mass. - The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will introduce an additional stage this year dedicated to up and coming bands.

The third stage, sponsored by Deathcote Records, will be located at Chasers Nightclub, located behind the Palladium on the corner of Martin Luther King and Commercial streets. The main festival will be taking place at the Palladium.

“There are so many great bands and not enough time to get all of them on during the course of two days,” said festival co-organizer Sott Lee. “Adding a third stage is a great way for us to showcase some of the developing bands and it’s a terrific opportunity for these bands to play alongside some of today’s top metal and hardcore bands.”

The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will take place on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, with the Atticus pre-party on Thursday, April 16. This year’s event is presented by Randall Amplifiers, Washburn Guitars and Eden Electronics. Metal Blade Records will present the main stage. Prosthetic Records will present the second stage.

The Atticus-sponsored pre-party will be a unique event that will be combining film and music, kicking off with a screening of official film sponsor Anchor Bay's film "Crowley," co-written by none other than Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. The provocative supernatural thriller is the tale of a virtual reality experiment gone wrong, sending the soul of the British occultist Aleister Crowley into the body of a shy university professor. But even as Crowley creates all-new orgies of depraved pleasures and black magic, he is now preparing to unleash the ultimate occult event upon the world. Also showing is
"Anvil! The Story of Anvil," a sometimes revealing, sometimes hilarious documentary about the legendary Canadian metal band. The movie follows best friends Robb Reiner and Lips as they make a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, hailed as the "demi-gods of Canadian metal, " influenced a musical generation that includes Metallica,
Slayer, and Anthrax, despite never hitting the big time. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now in their fifties, set off to record their 13th album in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dreams. The film will be followed by a performance by the band itself. The pre-party will also be held at the Palladium. Admission is free with a weekend pass or $15 for non-ticket holders.

Prices this year are $40 for Friday, $45 for Saturday or $79 for a 2-day ticket that also includes free admission to the kick off party on Thursday. Tickets are available at all Strawberries, FYE Stores, online at tickets.com or by calling (800) 477-6849. Tickets are available NOW so get yours before they sell out.

Monster Energy is official energy drink of the festival. All In Merch and 518 Prints are the official merchandise company of the festival. R&D Express Print & Promotion / Art Brigata are handling the festival banners and backdrops. Vic Firth is the official drum stick company and will be producing special festival sticks. SJC Drums is official drum company of the festival. MetalInjection.com is supplying fans with preview videos and interviews with the festival’s bands. Other sponsors include Mazur Public Relations, The Syndicate, Heavy Hitter, Rock And Shock Horror Convention, Roadrunner Records, MySpace Metal, KillerTours.com and Scott Lee Clothing.

OCEANO DEBUTS TRAILER FOR "DEPTHS" BONUS DVD

MySpace's #1 "unsigned" death metal band, OCEANO have released the
trailer to the bonus DVD that will come with their highly anticipated
April 7th debut, DEPTHS. From what is seen in the trailer, the DVD
promises a look the full OCEANO experience, raw and uncut. From the
DEPTHS recording sessions to the band goofing around in their off
time, the DVD will give access to a side of OCEANO that exists beyond
the violence and audience fights have have long been a staple of the
band's live set. Speaking of which, there will be a great amount of
live footage to be found, including lots of mosh action and a never
before seen angle on the infamous Ohio skate park fight.

View the trailer for the DEPTHS bonus DVD here:

alongside a twisted photographic interpretation of each lyrical line
as it is growled.

OCEANO TO SHOOT MUSIC VIDEO FOR "DISTRICT OF MISERY"

OCEANO, officially a number 1 band on MySpace is celebrating their
achievement tomorrow in Los Angeles, California where they will shoot
a video for the song "District of Misery."

Directed by Patrick Guera (DIFFICULT HENRY, HARD ECHO) and produced
by Brian Thompson at The Vault LA (MUNICIPAL WASTE, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE,
AS I LAY DYING), the video will be shot in a converted LA warehouse
and promises to be as heavy and formidable as the band themselves.

The video will see OCEANO playing the song alongside a twisted
photographic interpretation of each lyrical line as it is growled. The
director's vision for the photographic concept is a compelling choice
for a band who's image already relies on dark intensity. "Me (Patrick
Guera) and my director of photography shot some more surrealistic
stuff to accentuate the brutality." As for exactly what imagery will
be used;", says Guera as the directorslyly hints at some of the
specific imagery. "i use a lot of gnarled branches, some human props,
i don't want to give too much away. The visuals will speak for
themselves"

"The video is mostly based around Oceano's performance," says Guera,
"they are really brutal so we are going to accentuate that in the way
we shoot them, covering them from all angles, matching our movement to
the change ups in the song."

The video is shaping up to be a vital step in the ascendancy of
OCEANO. You can be sure to get behind the scenes access to the making
of it and more info on their official MySpace page:

OCEANO CHARTS AT #1 ON MYSPACE

OCEANO has lost band members, flipped vans and caused havoc
everywhere they go. For all the bad luck that the band has persevered
through, plenty of good has happened along the way. They were recently
featured in the Washington Post Express, who deemed their massive
heaviness "as disturbing as a tsunami" and in Revolver, who gave their
April 7th debut, DEPTHS a 3.5 out of 5 after calling it "unsparing in
its attack." They've also made a strong showing on the Sirius XM
Liquid Metal charts, having been ranked at number 15 for the last few
weeks with plenty of room to grow.

Another major positive happened today when the band was informed that
they were the number 1 "unsigned" death metal band on all of MySpace.
Not only that, but OCEANO charted at number 5 on the hardcore charts
and number 12 on the metal charts.

As a band who's successes have been made possible with the support of
their devoted MySpace following, this was a very sweet moment for the
them. So much so that guitarist Andrew Mikhail had this to say to all
of the band's friends on the site: "Thank you guys for your support,
small stuff like this means a lot! We realize we're signed, i dont
know why it says were unsigned but still awesome! Now lets show the
world how we all do it!"
