"JOB FOR A COWBOY just keeps getting better and better.” The Onion

“It’s frightening, dangerous and short, and instead of just throwing sh*t against the studio wall and seeing how it sticks, JFAC are actually art-chitects of a technical and transgressive style of music.” ultimate-guitar.com

Goatwhore joins forces with DevilDriver and Suffocation on “Bound By The Road” tour in 2010!

The mighty Goatwhore will be returning to the road in 2010 with veteran metal icons, DevilDriver and Suffocation! This will be their first tour back in North America following their upcoming European tour and is continuing the support for what is fast becoming their defining album, Carving Out The Eyes Of God. The Onion’s avclub.com declares Carving… as one of the top 30 metal albums of the decade and comments: “Ben Falgoust’s vocals and lyrics go way, way over the top, and Sammy Duet’s guitars sound more savage than ever. Both a culmination and a progression, Goatwhore reminds listeners why metal has a reputation for being terrifying.”

And, as always, Goatwhore will be equipped with their always tight, always furious, engaging live show, led by Ben Falgoust’s commanding presence and Sammy Duet’s one-man guitar attack. Zack Simmons’ on drums and new addition, James Harvey on bass, provide one of the tightest and most caustic rhythm sections in metal. This will be a tour not to miss.

GOATWHORE Hits Billboard Top 200 Chart with New Album ‘Carving Out the Eyes of God’!

Los Angeles, CA – July 2, 2009 – New Orleans, LA’s sons of American no-frills black metal meets death and roll, GOATWHORE, have just broke the Billboard Top 200 chart with their latest release Carving Out the Eyes of God, coming in at #190! In addition to hitting the Top 200 Chart, Carving Out the Eyes of God also debuted on the Billboard Hard Music chart at #33, the Billboard Top New Artist (Heatseekers) Albums chart at #16, and the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart at #34. GOATWHORE also carved out a spot for themselves on Canada’s charts coming in at #48 on Independent chart and #79 on Hard chart.

BILLBOARD TOP 200 Debut @ #190

Billboard Hard Music Debut @ #33

Billboard Top New Artist (Heatseekers) Albums Debut @ #16

Billboard Top Independent Albums Debut @ #34

About the band:

Emerging from the swamplands of New Orleans, Louisiana — a city rich with urban legends of voodoo curses, ghosts and murder — Goatwhore was formed in 1997 by guitarist Sammy Duet (Acid Bath, Crowbar, Ritual Killer etc.). Their history is a winding one marked by lineup shifts, temporary paralysis, haunted studios, and the survival of one of the five most destructive hurricanes in US history. Influenced by the raw savagery of bands like Venom and Celtic Frost, their unrefined, fuck-all approach to black metal first revealed on the Serenades To The Tides Of Blood demo and expanded upon on the now legendary Eclipse Of Ages Into Black debut nearly a decade ago earned the band instant underground credibility.

Fresh off a successful US tour as direct support to pagan-loving label-mates Amon Amarth, Goatwhore has now teamed up with Abigail Williams for the Conquer & Curse Tour 2009, which will cover over 60 dates throughout North America. Joining the tour will be Daath, Abysmal Dawn and Success Will Write Apocalypse Across The Sky. From there, the band will embark on another US jaunt with Obituary through the fall.

In an oversaturated metal landscape where sub-genres spawn sub-sub-genres and the very definition of “metal” seems blurred by cross-pollinating madness, sacred are the bands who stay true to their roots. Goatwhore spew the sort of sinister, fist-clenching, speaker-searing sound that made metal so forbiddingly enticing in the first place. The year of the ‘Whore is truly upon us! Carving out the Eyes of God was released June 23rd, 2009.

“Their most varied record to date. Songs sear with an old-school, punk propelled urgency that comes from years of Motorhead, Venom, and Hellhammer worship.” 4/5 Revolver Magazine

“…one of 2009's purest metal albums, one that could very well end up to be considered the quartet's watershed release…nefariously black and sadistically thrashing in a way that is uniquely GOATWHORE.” Blabbermouth.net

GOATWHORE announces ‘Carving Out the Eyes of God’ as the title of their new studio album

New Orleans, LA’s sons of American no-frills black metal, GOATWHORE, have just announced that the title of their fourth full-length album, and second for Metal Blade, will be Carving Out the Eyes of God. For the follow up to 2006’s A Haunting Curse, GOATWHORE headed back to St. Petersburg, FL to record with producer Erik Rutan at Manna Studios with mastering being handled by Alan Douches of West West Side.

Vocalist Ben Falgoust comments on the direction of the new album; “I don't really know how to explain this. I don't want to come off with the typical speech about how this record is our best yet and all of that. I will say that I am quite pleased how it has turned out and all parts relating to it. I feel every member put a great deal of effort into their part of the project. I even feel Erik Rutan busted his ass even more this time to make us feel that we didn't take any steps backwards in the recording and production of this release…I don't even really care what the critics say. I think the end result is basically coming up with something you have put a lot of work into and the satisfaction achieved in completing it. I will say that the new material is ripping metal and we still have that ‘Goatwhore’ sound, whatever that may mean for each individual that enjoys or hates what we do. Just look at it as another step in the evolution of this band. Each person that hears it will have his or her own perception of it. Like it or not, we don't have a say in it. The only thing we can do is just keep writing the way we do and accept the criticism. Doesn't mean we are gonna listen to the criticism and change. Just give it an honest listen and if you dig it, awesome! If you don't, then pass it on to a friend or use it as a new drink coaster.”

Guitarist Sammy Duet had this to add; “Dark, heavy, evil. Erik Rutan did one hell of a job on it. If you don't like it… kiss my ass.”

Track listing to Carving Out the Eyes of God:
1. Apocalyptic Havoc
2. The All-Destroying
3. Carving Out the Eyes of God
4. Shadow of a Rising Knife
5. Provoking the Ritual of Death
6. In Legions, I Am Wars Of Wrath
7. Reckoning of the Soul Made Godless
8. This Passing into the Power of Demons
9. Razor Flesh Devoured
