Obituary: Florida Death Metallers Announce East Coast Tour

Legendary Florida death metal behemoths OBITUARY will embark on a short East Coast run of dates this November alongside Denial Fiend! The trek will commence on November 12 in Tampa, Florida and runs through to November 20 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The band will be joined by bassist Terry Butler (Death, Six Feet Under, Massacre).
Commented guitarist Trevor Peres: "We are gonna rip out some old songs that we haven't played in ages during these shows!"

The band is currently writing the follow up to their Darkest Day full-length, released in 2009 via Candlelight Records. "Our goal is to be in the studio by January or February and to release the album in May or June of 2012," says Peres. "Of course, the album will be followed up by a ton of tour dates. We will start out in Europe with the Summer festival circuit, followed by a proper European tour package and then do a full North American tour in the Fall of 2012."

In addition, the band is also working on a new website that will allow fans a more interactive OBITUARY experience. "We'll be able to have more direct, real-time communications with our fans through our website utilizing audio, video, chat rooms etc. We're working on making these features function on our website, but as soon as we are ready to go live we will make an announcement."

Ex-Motörhead Guitarist Würzel Dead At 61

For decades I have been saying that my top 3 favorite bands are Overkill, Nevermore, and Motörhead. The order on that list may change, but those 3 bands have never failed me. So it is with a heavy heart that I announce the death of the one and only Würzel.  That the cause of death is being reported as ventricular fibrillation triggered by cardiomyopathy. He was 61

He was with Motörhead through No Remorse (1984), Orgasmatron (1986, Rock 'n' Roll (1987, Nö Sleep at All (1988), The Birthday Party (1990), 1916 (1991), March ör Die (1992), Bastards (1993), Sacrifice (1995), BBC Live & In-Session (2005), and many tours that brought joy to fans around the world.

Würzel was an army corporal who served in both Germany and Ireland with the 1st Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment. Before joining the band that would make him famous  had played in Bastard and Warfare. Both Würzel and Phil Campbell auditioned together for Motörhead. This made Motörhead a four-piece line-up that would make their debut recording a backing track for the British television hit The Young Ones on 14 February 1984. He had acquired the nickname Wurzel in the Army because his Scarecrow like hair made him look like a British children's fictional character Worzel Gummidge. Motörhead leader Lemmy Kilmister is rumored to have had the idea to add the umlaut to the 'U' to make it more Metal.
