Rock My Monkey Joins The Android Market!

We are very excited to announce that RockMyMonkey is now officially part of the Android Market! The best way to find it is to CLICK HERE! We thank all of you that helped us work out the bugs in our beta phase. That is done now and we ask that you all now only get the app from the official Android Market. Why? Because we are planing some major updates and as we update the app, being an app sold through the official Android Market it is easier to keep you alert of these updates. We also want to see if we can chart in any way possible. We doubt it, but stranger things have happened.

The best way to find it is to CLICK HERE!

Currently the app is a feed of all things RockMyMonkey. For those that may be more tech savvy, this would mean a dedicated RSS feed app. So yes you could just do this through the Google Reader, but we all know how out of control that can get. This way you don't have to worry about people you follow cluttering up your feed with other crap you don't care about. This app will only feed you the information RockMyMonkey.com is known for. This means the best in Rock, Metal, Punk, Industrial, and more. This will of course also get you the little bit of TV and movie news we post when we think our readers would be interested.

The best way to find it is to CLICK HERE!

Yes this app is free. We have no plans to ever charge a single penny for it. In fact, the app is also ad free. We currently DO NOT have an app for iOS (iPhone, iPad, iTouch). Due to the massive restrictions within the Apple store, we do not see this happening anytime soon. If we find a way to pull it off however, we will let you all know right away. We are totally open to suggestions.

Free was recorded at Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica, CA with legendary producer Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Pixies, Jimmy Eat World).  The album continues to expand upon the band's signature sound, melding angular riffs with energetic choruses.  Explosive and hard charging, yet melodic and thoughtful, the tracks cut deep and ring true to the listener, leaving a lasting impression.

In describing the new batch of songs, frontman Sam McTrusty explains, "We wanted there to be a brutal honesty in the lyrics. There are love songs and relationship songs, there are some with a party vibe, and there are some that are weird, heavy and grungy pop songs."  Guitarist BarryMcKenna adds, "Personally the only thing I wanted to achieve from this whole process is an album the four of us could stand by and invest ourselves in. We have done that."

The title track and current single "Free" has already been garnering impressive spins on BBC Radio 1, and its companion video clip, directed by Howard Greenhalgh (Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun") is airing on MTV, Kerrang! TV, and Scuzz TV and can be viewed here.

Fresh off several highly buzzed about performances at SXSW, Twin Atlantic are currently on a UK/European headline tour.  The band is expected to be back in the U.S. for a tour this fall.

Click to enlargeGlasgow’s TWIN ATLANTIC will release Free, the hotly anticipated follow-up to 2009’s critically lauded mini-album Vivarium, digitally on May 3rd in the U.S. via Red Bull Records.

Free was recorded at Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica, CA with legendary producer Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Pixies, Jimmy Eat World).  The album continues to expand upon the band’s signature sound, melding angular riffs with energetic choruses.  Explosive and hard charging, yet melodic and thoughtful, the tracks cut deep and ring true to the listener, leaving a lasting impression.

In describing the new batch of songs, frontman Sam McTrusty explains, “We wanted there to be a brutal honesty in the lyrics. There are love songs and relationship songs, there are some with a party vibe, and there are some that are weird, heavy and grungy pop songs.” Guitarist Barry McKenna adds, “Personally the only thing I wanted to achieve from this whole process is an album the four of us could stand by and invest ourselves in. We have done that.”

The title track and current single “Free” has already been garnering impressive spins on BBC Radio 1, and its companion video clip, directed by Howard Greenhalgh (Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun”) is airing on MTV, Kerrang! TV, and Scuzz TV and can be viewed here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TAJ_be8S8A.  The album will be the featured “Album of the Month” in Rock Sound’s May issue, in which they give it a “9 out of 10” and hail it as, “…an ambitious and truly spectacular debut…”.
