Why is it that whenever someone in the heavy music industry starts to make a little bit of money from their hard work they are fucked with to no end? I know many major names in death metal that still have to have day jobs, but yet people call them sell outs and flip them shit all the time. These are the biggest names in the death metal scene breaking their backs at day jobs and then being called sell outs. How the fuck does this make sense? I know that every time I get even a tiny little bit of progress with this site, I get flipped shit about everything under the sun. It makes me wonder how bad it will get if I start making the same amount I can make working full time scrubbing toilets. If I pulled the plug on this site and just scrubbed toilets I could spend hundreds on the nice retail versions of the exact cds that I want. Instead I accept what is sent to me for review, spend all my money on this site, and every waking hour on the computer. Sounds like the better deal is to pull the plug and just buy the music I like, eh? I wouldn’t have to deal with people questioning my every move. I wouldn’t have people making it look like all I care about is money when I try and launch a new service. Pulling the plug really sounds like a great deal.

No, I am not going to pull the plug. There are no plans to pull the plug. I am just making a point. Both musicians and journalists in this scene make major sacrifices as well to keep their dream alive. Is it so bad to want to be able to get a pay check from hard work? If I was able to get a paycheck from this I can promise you that this would be an even better site. I would be able to do more for bands, fans, and just the heavy music scene in general. You will never see me put profits over integrity or quality. If I only cared about profits, you would not see that automated link trade, unsigned band coverage, or a ton of other things I won’t go into here (this rant is long enough). I could never turn this into a pop site. If I did that it would defeat the purpose of getting out of the soul crushing job I have now. Despite this, people still bitch.

So let me cut loose the major asshole in me for a bit here. I am going to do my best to make this site the best it can be. I will do my best to make a living off of it within the next year or two. I don’t give a flying fuck what anyone thinks about how I go about that. I stress over every tiny decision connected to this site more then any sane individual would and have well over a decade of experience in independent music journalism. So before you publicly object to anything I do here, please know that I am wishing you would instead just go fuck yourself.

Now let me be clear that there are no plans to pull the plug on this site. I was just making a point. I also want to say that 99% of you are awesome and I thank you for your endless support that comes in so many different ways. This rant is directed to the very small minority that have such pathetic lives they need to pick apart other people’s dreams because they have no dreams of their own. We have writers that write for free, graphic artists that give their talents for free, people that input data for the monkey, and several other ways that I appreciate more than I could ever express. To you all I ever so humbly say thank you. To the pathetic whiners I say it's down the road and not across the street. World won't miss you. Better yet, get a damn life and stay the fuck out of mine!

Lastly, on the diet front, I lost another pound and am currently at 231.

PS-Vote for your favorite band not in the top 25! Click here because I love you all!
